When I was 14 and in my first weeks of high school, I ended up getting a part-time job (on Saturday afternoons) at a local family-owned hobby shop (model kits and the like) about a five-minute walk from my home.
What I don't remember exactly is how I got the job, because I never used to go to that store (I was never really into anything they sold there), but somehow I ended up there.
My first day was in the midst of an early autumn heatwave and it was a scorching afternoon. I figured I would go in and stock shelves or maybe work the cash or whatever. I was wrong.
Upon my arrival, I was informed that my job for the day would be to act as a mascot - not just any mascot, but Clifford the Big Red Dog.
Now, this place didn't sell books, so I have no idea why they ordered a Clifford costume or why they wanted him to appear, but here I was putting on a giant Clifford suit (warm as all hell) on a very hot day.
The last thing the owner said to me before I went out to my adoring public* (* - maybe like six young kids) is that Scholastic forbids anybody who appears as Clifford to talk because "Clifford doesn't have a voice."
Literally, 30 seconds into my appearance, a child greeted me to which I replied very loudly, "Hey kid, how's it goin'?" The owners were not impressed.
So, yeah, that was my first ever job.

So you follow direction poorly?

The hobby store job sounds kinda neat, though I like building model kits so it'd be up my alley. Not sure how I'd feel about being a dog, though.
Not counting stuff like "Build 200 mousetraps for like 50 bucks" tasks, my first job was at a Whataburger. Was a decent job for the few months I worked there, and it was kind of nice to see that the place was kept rather clean, can't fault them there.

So, I got a paycheque? When I was 14 I started refereeing hockey. Stopped that after one season, but carried with in-line hockey for like ten or more years.

Landscaping the summer of my freshman year in Las Vegas. Which sucked, doing physical labor in 110 weather is not a fun 1st job. I did learn Spanish though so I guess that's a win.

Started working each summer on a shrimp boat once I hit 12. But my first "real" job was clerk at a comic shop. I started when I was 15 and quit right before I finished high school.

Midnight retail for a now-out-of-business chain of stores, stocking shelves.
Where I learned that the customer is not always right, they're always looking to get something for nothin'.

I worked as a ref for intramural soccer games at my school. It was ten bucks a game, which was good for a kid. All I really remember is how great it was to control a game, and having an eight year old threaten me with physical harm.

Telemarketer, and I was good at it. Same here. Highest paying job I've had to date too.

I worked at Wendy's for a few weeks. I didn't like it at all. I always left smelling like grease. Yet my next job was at McDonalds.

I worked in a Butcher shop at the age of 15. I worked their for 3 years before I left. The owner had his own slaughter house, so at one point I saw a cow getting killed.
It was a decent job but I just got sick of it.

I delivered newspapers during my high school years. It enabled me to buy Genesis games. Delivering papers when I was 7 or 8. I delivered newspapers as a second job when I was twenty. My dad wasn't too happy about it. When I told him over the phone, he immediately drove half an hour to my place and tried to talk me out of it, saying it's a job for little kids. I proved him wrong. I was a damn good delivery boy. I had the strength to carry hundreds of newspapers. Good pocket money. My first real job was after I graduated high school. I worked at a grocery store stocking produce. I don't know why I stuck around there for nine months. Way too long if you ask me.

It worked great because it was only two days a week but I made roughly what any regular part time job. The holiday tips were nice too.
