One of the best twists ever was Mr Perfect turning face on Prime Time in just a single episode, brilliant. I always thought that was nonsensical, he was such a massive heel and advocator of Flair and Heenan, to turn so flippantly like that made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Agreed on Mark Henry's "Retirement" speech. I bought that hook, line and all.

I know it's recent, but the Jericho/Miz double-return was pretty great and unexpected, as was the HHH/Undertaker double return around WM27.

What was great about that was the fans cheering in a "yea you turned heel but damn what a great heel turn."

Nexus's debut. They had some nice minor foreshadowing of it with Barrett wearing the armband just before the main event and talking about how something big was coming, but the armband was barely noticeable and the promo sounded like any sort of generic vague, "I'm going to squash a jobber next week," bit where you'd really only see what the segment was setting up after the payoff had happened. Having a look at that episode on the Network now (it's the only one from 2010 at the moment)... He was in a suit for that interview, so whatever armband he may have had on at the time wasn't visible. So there was literally NO hint as to the magnitude of the events that would later take place. (Kind of saved that episode too, because other than the ending... it wasn't great)

(Kind of saved that episode too, because other than the ending... it wasn't great) I turned that episode off right before the main event cause the show was awful and I wasn't interested in seeing John Cena. I did the same thing when Punk did the pipebomb, too.

I always thought that was nonsensical, he was such a massive heel and advocator of Flair and Heenan, to turn so flippantly like that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Watch how it unfolded again. Savage made the offer and played up to Perfect's ego. Then the other co-hosts(Hillbilly Jim, McMahon and Duggan) did a masterful job poking and prodding, slowly planting the seeds in Perfect's head. The interview with Ramon and Flair where they belittled Perfect's ability, followed by Heenan belittling him just sealed it

That Undertaker heel turn in 2001 was awesome.

Cena's Rumble '08 return needs acknowledgement beyond the shock factor. His downward obscuring pose to the smug, shiteating reveal of his face sealed it. He became 'it' right there, no more token notions of 'controversial', but a quiet playing the lines he struggled to navigate in the years prior. He's there for those who believe and he can antagonize those don't. What was great was that the lead up to that Rumble match was that it was HHH's. Even though he was getting some sort of grief, I think he was almost cut from the match (storyline-wise) and had to struggle to get in there, you knew he was winning. It was a foregone conclusion... .........and the moment Cena's music hit, you realized "Well, Cena wins" and HHH was immediately an afterthought. Which is a good feeling, really...

The most shocking heel turn of them all....Jonathan Coachman at Summerslam 2003. I came in to bring that up. It was so great, especially because it was easily justifiable, he had been a punching bag, particularly in the weeks before Summerslam. I also loved the Ziggler/Del Rio double turn at Payback last year.

The crowd was funny too they cheered loud for him before it started rushing back to their minds that they hate this guy.

I know 'YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MAH FRIEND' is a tongue-in-cheek meme nowadays but Batista's turn did surprise me. His promo right before punishing Rey was cold hearted and evil. Especially when Batista's silent delivery of "I'm going to rip your head off......" *awkward pause* and BAM clothesline!

"Are you saying you're better than me?" That Undertaker heel turn in 2001 was awesome. Almost forgot about that one. Always loved the Taker/RVD hype promo for Vengeance following that turn: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx879puIWSU

The Rock's return in 2011.
Jericho winning the Championship Scramble in 2008.
Edge forcing his way in and winning the other Elimination Chamber in 2009.

Even though it ultimately spawned the Reign of Terror, Triple H turning heel to join The Corporation blew me away. It was the last possible scenario I could have imagined at the time.

Going back a few years, but The Rock being revealed as being the Corporate Champion was pretty well done. All the way through, it seemed like Vince was pulling out all the stops, to prevent him from winning the tournament. Sending in Bossman, then Shamrock, then Bossman again, then Bossman again, then Kane. All intent on stopping The Rock from winning. But in reality, ensuring The Rock did win in each round.
The Screwjob re-enactment was cheap, but this is the WWE so it's to be expected.
