Edge's first world title win was probably the last time I was genuinely surprised by something, not including Brock beating The Undertaker this year.

Nexus Debut worked so well not only because you didn't expect ANYTHING like it, but because that Raw had been so awful and boring that by the time it happened, your mind had tuned out.
Also, I will have to disagree on the Mark Henry retirement; the SECOND he told Cena to stay in the ring, you HAD to know it was all a ruse.

Bischoff pulling off the Scooby Doo mask during the wedding angle with Billy and Chuck. I was genuinely stunned. Even knowing it's him now, it still looks and sounds nothing like him. Stephanie sold the slow realisation that it was Bischoff beautifully, too

Bischoff pulling off the Scooby Doo mask during the wedding angle with Billy and Chuck. This is always the first one I think of when I see these types of threads. A lot of them are just "surprise I'm here now!" or "I can't believe so-n-so was booked that way!" but this was Bischoff in character in the ring for quite a long time. The reveal was fantastic.

Supposedly he was walking around in character backstage like all day as well.

Bischoff pulling off the Scooby Doo mask during the wedding angle with Billy and Chuck. Bischoff is criminally underrated as an actor. I did not expect that. I mean I wasn't looking at the guy as an imposter, so I guess that's the first good trait of a good performance. I seriously loved 3 Minute Warning. Yeah, when he , in the old voice said three minutes, I actually gasped out loud. I had not expected Bischoff to have anything to do with that segment at all. And apparently he had doing the voice in the make-up at the arena that entire day, and no one knew.

"Are you saying you're better than me?" That Undertaker heel turn in 2001 was awesome. Almost forgot about that one. Always loved the Taker/RVD hype promo for Vengeance following that turn: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx879puIWSULawler's cringeworthy Rodney Dangerfield reference was just so out of place...

RVD and Dreamer hitting the ring (the surprise) and the "WWF" guys that came to stop them slowly turning around (the twist).
Shame they pissed it all away before the episode was even over.

Most shocked I've ever been by anything wrestling related, and I didn't care at all about the streak. As much as I crap on Cole, I also thought his call was perfect. Bischoff during the Billy & Chuck "wedding" is also up there for me.

Survivor Series '98 from start to finish is Russo's greatest work. It's got all his classic cliches, only they weren't cliches yet and it's a fun PPV that tells a good story from start to finish with the greatest swerve he ever pulled out.

The End of the Streak Bischoff at Billy and Chuck's Ceremony RVD & Dreamer crashing the ring (and what followed) Nexus (I had been half-watching the episode and my jaw hit the floor when all hell broke loose) I was in MSG at Rumble 08 when Cena returned. The crowd was "Holy shit, it's Cena!" followed 2 seconds later by "Oh Shit, it's Cena....."
