WWE sometimes is subtle like a hammer to the face. Or make nonsensical twists and surprise reveals. But even so, sometime they make it just right Wondering which ones are these moments,i will start with one of my favorites of recent years THE CALGARY KID.

I know a lot of people didn't like it, but the break up of the Shield was a tremendously done moment.

And I second this. Absolutely nobody saw that coming.

Honestly the biggest surprise outside of the Streak was Cena going after Lesnar and getting suplexed to hell. Booking Cena in a squash match with him being the one squashed with zero outside interference was the definition of a surprise.
I don't believe a single person that wasn't privy to the match details beforehand saw that coming.

Eric Bischoff's reveal before he came out to the stage, and interrupted Coach's interview with Booker T. The collective noise of the audience was just brilliant! Booker's response too was fantastic.

A minor one, and more a camera trick, but it was HBK vs Edge in the run-up to WM '07. Of course, Orton interferes and he just rises into the shot like the devil itself and plants HBK.
HBK's now legendary Bret Hart bait in the run-up to Summerslam '05. Pulling that business in Montreal was fantastic. Less remembered is the fact he did it again 5 minutes later with a Hogan bait; man was a master.
Cena's Rumble '08 return needs acknowledgement beyond the shock factor. His downward obscuring pose to the smug, shiteating reveal of his face sealed it. He became 'it' right there, no more token notions of 'controversial', but a quiet playing the lines he struggled to navigate in the years prior. He's there for those who believe and he can antagonize those don't.

I know a lot of people didn't like it, but the break up of the Shield was a tremendously done moment. Especially since the guy who caused the break up was the one guy nobody expected.

One of the best twists ever was Mr Perfect turning face on Prime Time in just a single episode, brilliant.

Michaels turning on Hogan left me speechless for few mins..
one of few times commentators going totally silent helped to sell a huge angle

Bischoff pulling off the Scooby Doo mask during the wedding angle with Billy and Chuck. Bischoff is criminally underrated as an actor. I did not expect that. I mean I wasn't looking at the guy as an imposter, so I guess that's the first good trait of a good performance. I seriously loved 3 Minute Warning.

Heyman turning on CM Punk. It was well done Punk was just mildly hurt by the ladder until he found out it was Heyman you can see his expression change for him that was the worst thing ever.

"Oh look, Wade Barrett's walking down the ramp, he'll probably distract them in the match to set up a title feud or something, and - What the? Is that Michael Tarver? What's going on?"

Easy E has been an amazing on-screen character over the years.

Cena joining The Nexus. Never expected that and it's such a shame that the payoff was so utterly bad with WWE refusing to go all out with it.
Punk beating Cena and leaving with the title. I half-expected him to win but, I also had a suspicion that he actually was leaving so was in two minds.
Brock breaking the streak.
The Shield breakup.
Bryan joining The Wyatt's; him joining was done well but, as was the case with Cena joining The Nexus. WWE dropped the ball by ending it too quick.

A recent one that doesn't get brought up often is AW turning on Primo & Epico to help the Prime Time Players become #1 contenders.

Brock annihilating Cena was fantastic.
Another underrated one? Mark Henry's "Retirement" speech.

Nexus's debut. They had some nice minor foreshadowing of it with Barrett wearing the armband just before the main event and talking about how something big was coming, but the armband was barely noticeable and the promo sounded like any sort of generic vague, "I'm going to squash a jobber next week," bit where you'd really only see what the segment was setting up after the payoff had happened.
