I'm not even gonna post a picture it was so disturbing but I just saw a man with a giant hole in each cheek with a ring implanted in the holes letting you see the insides of his mouth. He had two smaller openings under his lip.
Why the f*** would someone do something as irreversible as that? I know tattoos aren't the key to standing out anymore but imagine that idiot when he's old.
Bleearrghhh.
Please don't let me dream about that face.

I always like the people with the super gauged ears. It makes me want to make a game out of it and throw coins through their ears.

It's your body, do what you want with it, whatever, but I still think the overwhelming majority of the modifications look f***ing stupid.

Things are just getting more and more f***ed up. In my grandpa's days a man just wouldn't grow his hair long. Then in my dad's days earrings were edgy and tattoos were a no no unless you were in the army. Here we are now and those things are "normal". So people have to stretch ears and jaws now. Will we look at that in twenty years and not even bat an eyelash? What will be extreme and edgy in twenty years?

I always wondered what happens when they grow older, something in your 20s and 30s sometimes don't hold up when you are in your 60s and 70s.

It's not nearly as big a deal as you guys would think to them. It's just part of certain scenes, and has a pretty huge culture to it.
If someone's really into tattoos and piercing (or an attached subculture) it's super easy to get exposed to it.
I learned of all of it thru a metal board I was on as a kid, which led into my sister spending a lot of time on BME (body modification expo) and us going to suspension show/concerts.
Most of the people are perfectly normal.

It's not my body, so as long as it doesn't smell terrible or invade my personal space, I don't really mind.

It's always a good way to make me feel better about my decisions. "Man I really f***ed that up.... But then again, I don't have a giant hole in my face..."

I mainly wonder what kinds of jobs these people have, how many shitty tattoo "artists" and piercers do we really need?

I've seen that picture and it's one of the dumbest things I've seen in my life.I have a tattoo, good size, but it's barely noticeable because it's on the back of my left arm.I'll never be shocked by shit people do,just to say "Look at me!Look at me!".

I've heard an explanation that some people trace it to tribal practices of body modification such as lip bowls or piercings. But with the majority of people who do some of the more outlandish examples I have seen, I have to ask: lol out your window, do you see the Amazon of Suburbia?

The atmosphere in the club was just really cool and they played some really sweet industrial music.

Yeah, to each their own and all that, but it doesn't change the fact that it's disturbing as f*** to look at.
Then again, I've seen images of people who have split their penises in various ways. That's f***ed up.

i get that people want to stand out, and it does look cool, and people should not discriminate against people that look like this. However, I could never do this because it's too permanent. I almost got a Hatchetman tattoo in the late 90's, and I am now thankful I didn't . I couldn't imagine having holes in both cheeks and having second thoughts about it.

I mainly wonder what kinds of jobs these people have, how many shitty tattoo "artists" and piercers do we really need? This is the one that kills me. I generally feel that it is the reasonable and civil thing to do to help support our fellow citizens who try to get ahead in life but just cannot for reasons that are either out of their control or bad luck, but every time I see a college student with something ridiculous on their head I just want to smack them upside the back of their head. Sure, in a perfect world it should not matter if you have a neck tattoo or 2" gauges in your ears, but it does. If you are too stupid to know that it does then I don't particularly want to hire your dumb ass to work for me (when I am in a position to affect hiring decisions, that is). Thank you for screening yourself out of the stack of potential new hires. Saves me the time to learn just how stupid you are. I mean, do you have to be a total conformist? No, but there are limits. You can pierce yourself a ton of times and run chains all across your face like Jane Child. Those piercings can come out when you need to present a more professional face to the world. Big deal. You want to dress strangely? So long as you wear appropriate clothes when on the job, that is fine and dandy as far as I am concerned. Bizarre makeup, facepaint, hairstyles, etc. are all temporary and can be removed when not appropriate. Tattoos are no big deal, so long as they can either be covered up when on the job. Hell, I don't even think having sleeves is that big of a deal anymore. You can still express yourself without being stupid.
