So what's the consensus on the top Marvel crossover events?

As far as I'm concerned, there's Infinity Gauntlet and then there's everything else.

Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation for me.
My third vote would go to The Onslaught Saga for being the first event that 'mattered.'

I'd go with Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation as the best events.
Most events tend to just have stupid shit for the sake of changing things up or doing the opposite (The mutants are endangered now! Spidey's not married anymore! Cyclops is a cold-blooded murderer!). On the bright side, AXIS has been pretty good so far, and I'm loving New Avengers so the new Secret Wars has me excited.

Acts of Vengeance is the greatest Marvel crossover of them all. Nothing else comes close, and only Crisis on Infinte Earths on the DC side can somewhat compete with it.

I may be in the minority here but I loved Civil War and Secret Invasion. They were the first two BIG crossover events of Marvel's I read and they've stuck with me ever since.

Onslaught Saga simply because it gave us the first Marvel vs. Capcom game. Beyond that, not many of them have impressed me much. Secret Wars bothered me with its artwork, the feet didn't look right at all as I remember.

Went with Infinity Gauntlet. Not ENTIRELY sure Planet Hulk counts since it was hardly a crossover, but if it does, I vote for that one.

Acts of Vengeance is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

You guys got me curious about Acts of Vengeance. I don't seem to see a TPB edition of it? Just an out-of-print hardcover that goes for well over $100. Any suggestions how to add this to the collection?

Any suggestions how to add this to the collection? The only collected edition of that one is expensive the over-sized hardcover you've seen. Acts of Vengeance was a cross-over in the true sense, that you had to buy one issue of Thor, then one of Captain America, then Iron Man and so on until you had the entire story, which was over 30 issues long Then, there was another 30+ related, but not essential for the main story, comics that are collected in another hardcover. Yes, they are expensive, but well worth the money if you ask me.

Plus you get the entire Cosmic Spidey story in that one Omnibus.
The main reason I like it, besides first reading it as a kid, is that it's just fun. There's no promises of Earth shattering changes, no retcons, no deaths, it's just all the top villains and all the top heroes going at it.

Inferno Avengers: Under Siege (technically a crossover though it wasn't really advertised as one)

Infinity Gauntlet was the first one that came to mind (even if I didn't care for Adam Warlock).
Adding an "other" for Maximum Carnage. It wasn't a crossover in the purest sense, but there were so many other heroes involved in the whole thing that it felt like it could have been.

I liked Planet Hulk way better, even if it just had Silver Surfer and then a bunch of new aliens, I'm counting it!

Secret Wars and Siege, if only for the triumphant return of Steve Rogers basically ending Norman Osborn taking over as the most powerful man in the US.
