Giants placed RHP Matt Cain on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 3, with a right flexor tendon strain.
Justin Verlander (triceps) is not expected to be ready to pitch on Sunday against the Indians.

I am seriously considering getting MLB.tv for the first time. I foresee myself not being able to watch quite a few games on TV. However, with the subscription, I can catch almost all the games on my phone or iPad.
Hmm...

Unfortunately, the blackout rules are completely insane, so they're very obnoxious to keep up with. I'd kill for those rules to be lifted; lives baseball and hockey are basically the only reasons I still have cable, and I'd love to cut the cord. Unfortunately, the sports leagues are all in bed with the big cable providers, so it'll take legal action for that to ever change.

Wouldn't I be able to watch the other team's broadcast, though? For example, the Mets are playing the Braves. Even though I'm in the Mets' area and am at home, couldn't I chose to watch the Braves' broadcast without being blacked out? That's what I'm not sure on and is the only thing holding me back.

The more I'm reading, the more it looks like I won't be able to watch any Mets games. If I'm reading that right, then...it looks like I'll be missing a lot of games. Balls.

Yeah MLB TV is a great investment if you are a fan and live outside their broadcast area. I'm a Reds fan 1/2 hour from Pitt now so it's great for me. If I was a Pirates fan it would be a waste if the game isn't sold out. If you still have a cable provider and live in the Mets area, check their mobile on demand apps and see if SNY is on it.

I didn't get it this year because my cable package is a lot more robust this year.

Yeah, if you're like me (northern NJ/immediate NYC area) or basically anywhere in NJ or much of upstate NY, you can't watch any Mets or Yankees broadcast, no matter who's carrying it (same type of rules that often applies for nationally televised games). Hell, here's how dumb the rules are: there are places way upstate in NY where residents get Red Sox games, but not the Mets or Yankees...yet the New York team games are STILL blacked out for them on MLB.tv! That aspect of it is horrendous.

So, this could be because I live in a weird zone in North America with no actual team (MLB claims that the Blue Jays are my local team so they should be blacked out), but I never ran into an issue with getting any game to work and I even managed to get the playoff and World Series games even though it was said that I would have access to that. For the record, I did not use any VPN or shady thing to access MLB.tv.

Being in the UK means I get everything on MLB.tv, even FOX and ESPN broadcasts and the postseason. They even show the games that BT Sport and ESPN UK show, which is a step above NHL Gamecenter, which blacks out whatever games Premier Sports show.

They discussed it during Spring Training, and now it's happening: the Mets are going to bat the pitcher 8th today.
I don't mind the idea: it plays better later in the game when you're considering pinch hitting, and it means a better hitting in the spot immediately before the top of the lineup comes up. That said, of all the pitchers to do it with, Jacob deGrom is actually a pretty solid bat, so it's not quite as necessary with him (dude was a shortstop for a pretty long time). Still, a worthy experiment. I like the Mets going for a SABR-friendly lineup.

Rain delay for the Mets tonight. I knew I shouldn't have turned the DVD I was watching off at 7. Hah.

I'm surprised the Yanks are playing tonight on time. I thought for sure it'd be a rain delay at least.

Is this what it's like to be the fan of an opposing team while Jonathan Papelbon is on the mound? Because that mother-f***er is INSUFFERABLE.
He strolls into a bases-loaded, two-out situation in the top of the 8th, with Philadelphia leading Boston 4-2. He hangs a pitch right over the heart of the plate and Hanley Ramirez tattoos it to left-centerfield, but it gets caught in the wind and falls at the 373-foot mark in front of a 374-foot fence. Papelbon chooses to take this moment to puff his chest out and trash-talk the Boston dugout.
It's like he's blissfully unaware that if it weren't a cold, misty, windy night in Philadelphia, that ball would still be traveling right now.

Since I live in the area, do any of you guys trust the Orioles to be successful and go far?
