Ain't that the truth? Guys like Zack Ryder aren't going to selling many tickets to indy shows without the *only* names they've ever been known by. WWE don't really go after guys using their WWE gimmicks on the Indies, as long as its not TNA or anything taped for ppv or DVD then WWE don't give a shit. |

You know what I hate? WWE gets the wrestlers to think of names, yet they get to trademark them as their intellectual property. I wonder if guys ever thought of recording this process and if they get let go, they can keep the name and give that recording to the court showing they thought of the name. Not that it matters much with Steen. If he gets let go, he can still go back as Kevin Steen without it being a big deal, in comparison to other wrestlers. That's the point. Both parties can go on bloodlessly, yet still make money. |

I like it. It actually sounds like a normal name. Hopefully he's allowed to use the fight mantra, maybe change it to Fight Kevin Fight.

I know they rename guys for good business reasons like preventing guys from profiting from their WWE exposure when they leave (and I'm sure the royalties to use their name and likeness on DVD and network comps are cheaper when they own the name), but it makes everything so damn generic. Every guy ends up with a 3 or 4 syllable name that sounds like a character on Saved by the Bell (unless your foreign, then you get a 2 or 3 syllable one word name). Part of what makes memorable stars in real sports are their interesting real names. The best baseball player on the planet at this moment is named Madison Bumgarner. No one will forget him over the offseason. WWE would've renamed him Mark Benson or something and he'd instantly fade from the memories of all but the most hardcore fans.
