If Owens really comes from a nod to Owen Hart they could have used Owen's second name and call him Kevin James.

Damn, I was hoping it would be Tim Horton. So was Kevin Steen. Now we won't get hilarious promos from HBK and HHH calling Tim Horton the "Timbit that won't go down the hopper".

I was really hoping for Tom Horton (thanks Review A Wai), but I can dig this.

Pssh, what kind of a weiner names his kid Owen Owens? This dude isn't going to get over! "WWE has petitioned to trademark the name 'Stevie Owens' for Kevin Steen's son, Owen."

Pretty good name, maybe WWE takes extra care with guys with an actual future.

Anyone with a first name as his last name is a douchebag. I resent that.

It's a jobber name. I read it and think of a pale, thin guy in ill-fitting trunks about to get injured in an Ahmed Johnson squash. This It's just so meh.

If Owens really comes from a nod to Owen Hart they could have used Owen's second name and call him Kevin James. Pair him with Carmella and let the hilarity of her calling him a dumb fatass every week ensue.

Once he debuts, I'm pretty sure no one will complain about his name being "generic". Instead of the Big O they may call him the Generic O

Ain't that the truth? Guys like Zack Ryder aren't going to selling many tickets to indy shows without the *only* names they've ever been known by. WWE don't really go after guys using their WWE gimmicks on the Indies, as long as its not TNA or anything taped for ppv or DVD then WWE don't give a shit. WWE shouldn't give a shit at all. If a guy like Steen/Owens gets fired, it doesn't hurt him at all, but these "WWE Guys" are screwed. They can't wrestle on TV of any kind, So they're basically doomed to irrelevance and the fanbase at large doesn't get to see their work.

I used to like it when production meeting contents didn't used to be known and a guy would just debut without having to learn about his 15 different name/gimmick/outfit/haircut/facepaint/music changes up until that point.

It's not terrible or anything but ultimately it sounds like a guy that should be bagging groceries somewhere instead of a big-time wrestler.
