Sometimes I write a blog. It's been awhile since I wrote anything, but I wanted to write a blog about Pink Floyd and how I found the band. I'm not going to lie and say drugs weren't one of the reasons I started listening to them. I was led to believe they were a big drug band. Anyways I thought about mentioning that in my blog, but I'm always a little leery about mentioning anything like that as it's public and some people might frown upon it. I'm not going to glorify anything or brag but I thought I might mention it.
What would you good people do?

If your writing style goes into the background of your own life and why you may listen to music or engage in certain aspects of culture then there's no harm in doing so. Even if you want to be vague and come up with a few euphemisms for whatever you were into, or just saying 'the scene which introduced me to Barrett and Waters and Gilmour was..." to give a brief explanation you'll be fine.
If your writing is more about the music without the context for your own reasons for listening then you can do without mentioning drug use but it can read very dryly, especially about a band as well known/well written about as the Floyd.

I was led to believe they were a big drug band. This has never really been the case at all. Syd was majorly into drugs, but they ruined his career and his mind. The rest of the band seem to have been avid dope smokers during the late 60s and early 70s but not generally studio users, and while there was coke knocking around while making the wall, the band have always denied that drugs were what influenced their actual music outside of Syd. Their music is rarely ever even supposed to be ABOUT drugs. Pink Floyd are not a drugs band. They have a drugs fanbase.

You could always use a fake name, and no one would ever know it was you. Except us. We'd know.
