What are some bad examples of an actor leaving the show so the producers can't get the character of the show fast enough so they halfass it completely.
Victoria Principal left Dallas and her character subsequently left in the stupidest way possible to the grief of no one in the show.
Charlie on TAAHM anyone!

I felt the way Dale was killed off in the Walking Dead was pretty lame.
The Actor wasn't happy about the director he was friends with being sacked so He wanted out, Thus get's attacked by a weak arse Zombie that is somehow able to pull his stomach open.

I never heard this, but it sounds very similar to why Jon Bernthal left after the season two firing of Frank Darabont. Did you mix the story up or did Jeffrey DeMunn also decide to leave for this reason? I can't imagine him having a bigger contract than Bernthal despite his character actually lasting much longer than the tiny Shane arc of two issues. The show obviously saw Shane as a co headliner.

Elisabeth Shue in Karate Kid II
Her character in the first film dumped a rich obnoxious jock because she fell in love with the poorer nerdier but kinder guy
In the sequel, apparently she completely reversed this position and dumped him for another jock at college, after wrecking his car too.

Anytime a character leaves and they just don't explain it at all. I remember Sabrina the Teenage Witch being notorious for this.

From what I hear Jeffrey DeMunn had requested his Character be written off when Frank Darabont left. I might be mixing up stories here but this was what I remembered.

I never watched it, but I seem to recall Robert Downey Jr. being written out of ALLY MCBEAL in a very weird way that kinda messed up the entire show there for a while...

May not be the same case because she didn't leave on her own accord, but Charisma Carpenter. Got fired from Angel after getting pregnant, then her character hooked up with Connor in that insane storyline, and then she dies off-screen.
The way that whole thing went down kinda changed the way I look at Joss Whedon, tbh.

Strangest thing is that Whedon is viewed as this hardcore feminist and even goes on feminist conferences to match speeches there.

I've heard this story in connection with Jeffrey DeMunn. Don't know about Jon Bernthal. I'll say a good chunk of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers cast. Austin St John (Jason), Walter Jones (Zack) & Thuy Trang (Trini) all left during filming of season 2, so they get shunted to the background, Jason demoted because Tommy's back and Zordon's a dick, while Billy Kimberly & Tommy start hanging out with three kids from Stone Canyon while the producers jump through hoops trying to keep the impression everything's as normal. Then they get shipped off to a Peace Conference. At least they built up towards Kimberly leaving with the Gymnastics storyline and Catherine being introduced as a character.

I would not be surprised at all about DeMunn leaving like that. He's been in most if not all of Darabont's movies, so the 2 must be friends by this point.
Wouldn't be shocked if Laurie Holden (Andrea), another Darabont favorite, left for similar reasons. Considering Andrea is still around in the comics, her TV departure seemed VERY sudden - and I've never thought it as just "Kirkman wants to change things up."
I recall Saved by the Bell (the casts after Zack and the original gang went away) doing this thing where they'd graduate certain characters every year, so as to make the cast full of different students and not just all of 1 class. It led to more than a couple weird moments where graduates either did or didn't get closure when they left - IIRC, one case featured a couple splitting up "over the phone" because 1 of them had apparently graduated / left the show.

Denise Crosby on Star Trek : TNG. She wanted to quit so they killed her off in a way that even a red shirt would find lame.

That's okay, though. I liked Kumiko much better...y'know, the one that he fought to the death to save, only for her to dump him and attend dance school or soemthing? Yeah, her.

Well, at least she wasn't killed by the guy who ran the bar across the way...... Wait, I'd have preferred that more direct CHEERS reference instead.
