Michael Pitt on Boardwalk Empire. He wanted out of the show so he get's set up and killed, rarely to be mentioned again.
Not tv but XXX...Vin Diesel says no thanks and 1st scene of the movie "Xander Cage bought it in Italy last week...we need a new XXX!"

I hated this so much. I know it was short notice but what shitty writing, the dude just offs himself and is then barely mentioned ever again. He did play a big, albeit brief, part the rest of the season in House's hallucinations. That's why I said 'barely'

Also fun, the deleted death scene featuring dialogue from the first movie and a really bad body double.

I'll go ya one that almost went the opposite direction as the rest here. Catherine Hiegel was rather well known for being a pain in the ass on set of Grey's Anatomy. So a dispute over her re-signing comes up right around thetime she has become the hollywood "it girl" of the moment. So now she wants her cake (big $ from the show with less dates) and eat it too (time away from the show to make movies for $10mi a shot). Chandra Rhimes has enough and wants her gone but ABC wants the it girl. So Chandra writes a huge and complex arc that makes Heigel the focal point of a show named after another character. The arc works like a million bucks, ABC is happy, Heigel seems happy, Rhimes is skeptical but happy. Heigel comes back the next yr and gets pissy again bc Rhimes is spending more air time on the rest of the cast she had to minimize the yr before for Heigel's sake. In the end she walks mid season almost no warning. One day she just left the show and that's how they left it. They bury her departure at least five times a yr thru the on screen husband she walked out on. **** Catherine Heigel

Shirley. The whole series, we thought she'd end up with Carmine, then they pull a new guy out of their butts and he does NOTHING as per the injured "mummy" gimmick. I guess I can see why they wouldn't want to write off Eddie Mekka too...they were losing two other main characters that season (Cindy Williams & Michael McKean would be gone much of the season too). But still they pulled Walter Meany out of their butts.

In regards to Shane being offed in the Walking Dead, that's the point in which his character would have died unless they went in a non-comic direction. Everything in the story pretty much was built to where he had to go. Dale did opt out of the show. If he didn't he would have likely made it all the way to the recent episodes of season 5.

If anyone here ever watched Degrassi, JT's actor decided to leave the show to focus on College. The writers responded by having him violently stabbed in killed off, because that's High School! That is the exact reason I stopped watching that show. He was the dude I related most to and they up and killed him. f***ers.

Poochie from the Itchy and Scratchy Show. I had no idea he was an alien and they killed him off before he was able to return to his home planet.
