The first trailer has been released, and it looks like the trilogy is definitely going out with a bang.

Techically second trailer as they released a teaser some time ago.
Definitely pumped. The Hobbit films have been flawed I admit, but I love the Tolkien universe so much that just seeing it on screen is worth it. Plus no more traveling, no more new characters, just an established setting, developed conflicts and one hell of a battle.

I wonder how they'll handle Bilbo during the final battle?

I am very saddened in myself, I was such a huge fan of the original trilogy, but I watched this trailer, and it had moments I should have popped for, but it just looked so meh.

Yes please, I already have my money ready.
This looks awesome, and should be a grand finale to the series.

I gotta agree with this guy. Ten years ago I would've been covered in ectoplasm. Even two and a half years ago. But the last one just didn't sit well with me.

The stretching it to 3 movies has caused for some bad, but has brought some good. We get more Smaug than had it been 2 movies, we got more Bard backstory, and we're getting more insight into Thorin's descent into complete greed and madness.

It looks good and I enjoyed the others but I just can't stand the Elves.
They're like the Middle Earth version of John Cena. I mean, this trilogy should really be about Bilbo and The Dwarves with the Elves playing a bit part role as antagonists after they capture the Dwarves in the forest and supporting heroes during the battle.
Instead they keep stealing the Dwarves thunder and steam-rolling over the Orcs to such a degree it kills any tension and drama.

I still got to ask was the Kili romance really needed?

Figured I'd bump this rather than start a new thread, just got back from a midnight showing, was so f***ing awesome. Just action packed throughout, the battle scenes were so badass, the elves and the dwarves contrasting so well against the orcs, it was awesome.
I will say though, I was annoyed by Deus Ex Legolas. He only seemed to be there to do cool shit that looked f***ing ridiculous. Which is a shame, because he's probably my favourite character in the LoTR films.

Now wait till they make The Silmarilion into a prequel to this... I hope not. I love Tolkien's stuff, but that's pushing things too far. I can, however, see possibilities of Middle Earth-based spinoffs.

I would love to go see the trilogy marathon at AMC but they are doing it monday starting at noon. I'm not taking a day off of work to do it.

I wonder how they'll handle Bilbo during the final battle? Most of this movie should take place with him unconscious.

I just found out it's only 2 hours and 20 minutes. I feel short-changed!

That Smaug interview was the most entertaining thing to come out of the Hobbit movies

Now wait till they make The Silmarilion into a prequel to this... They don't have the rights for it. It's why the changed some of the backstory.
