I've never seen or heard of Chadwick Boseman is he a good actor? I only know of him from 42, the Jackie Robinson movie from last year, but he got some good props for the role. Check it out if you can.

Damn, the trailer got me excited! It looks like they did a good job juggling all the other characters while still making it very much a Captain America-centric flick.

Now, Black Panther's role in this is funny as... Someone I'm friends with at my bookstore theorized it has more to do with {Spoiler}that very U.N.-ish-looking room at the beginning of the trailer blowing up. T'Challa would not take kind to his ambassador getting killed in a terrorist incident {Spoiler}Could be the Bilderberg assassination of T'Chaka, though I'm almost positive they said he'd be alive for the Black Panther movie.

Words are failing me so... I'm at the point where I should probably write my own fan fiction and stop projecting my weird-ass theories everywhere.

So unless they have a reeeeeeally good excuse, they're derailing Iron Man to put him on the government side. So it's starting out as a faithful adaptation. I love the zing, but the comics did have Tony as an actual Cabinet secretary for a year or 2 (ending during Disassembled, IIRC), so a case could be made that there was some groundwork for his siding with the government in CW. Still, this will basically be 1 movie removed from Tony in a Hulkbuster outfit jumping all over that city fighting the Hulk ... so his siding with the govt in the movies looks extra comical and insulting to the plot of this one. Cap - "He's my friend" Tony - "So was I" Just the way RDJ delivers that line gave me chills. "So was I"? Doesn't it work better as "So am I"? I reckon something really bad - beyond just the government-driven split - happens, but without knowing that just yet...the past tense kinda dulled the impact for me...

He used past tense with a sad and confused tone, which was the perfect way to go. The line is played out as if up until Cap said what he did, Tony still thought they were friends. He wasn't making a declarative statement, he was having a sad realization. Past tense is a far better choice.

Also, considering the next scene is Captain America and Bucky beating on Iron Man, the past tense could be taken as Cap choosing Bucky over Tony, thereby negating any friendship they had.

Maybe it's just me, but I never saw Stark as actually a "friend" to Cap. Colleagues? Sure. Acquaintances? Okay. "Work buddies"? Definitely. But "friend"? I honestly don't think Cap reciprocates that or he shouldn't anyway. I'm sure Stark would certainly see it that way seeing as how he treats Cap about the same as he treats Rhodes or maybe Pepper, but that just makes Rhodes a bit more tolerant of Stark's shit than Cap would be and Pepper does try to call Stark out on his shit...though I wonder how much of that really gets through to him because she has the added "benefit" of being someone he wants to sleep with. Not to mention too, Rhodes had been hanging with Stark for ages before even the first Iron Man movie. Pepper has been around for years. I'm pretty convinced that outside his inner circle of Rhodey and Pepper, Stark doesn't know how to really be a friend to most people. Banner being a noted exception.

I think the biggest question mark for me is still Spider-Man's involvement. We already know that Peter Parker in this world is a 15-year-old kid, very un-established. I don't see either side fighting over him, or even knowing much at all about him in general. I sincerely can't figure out how he'll logically play into things. My best guess is that Thunderbolt Ross is going to try and force him into a registry at some point, and he'll balk at it. Maybe he'll be Speedball - in as far as he'll be responsible for kicking off the debate?

I could see Tony believing that him and Cap were friends. At the end of the first Avengers they shook hands, Age of Ultron you had Cap who sincerely told Stark "I will miss you Tony."
You also had Stark showing uncharacteristic compassion and concern for him when said "You'll get there one day." in discussing life after the Avengers and even asked him "You alright?" in such a fashion as if he wanted Cap to confide in him. So I view it as more of an unspoken friendship.

I mean hell, Happy Hogan even got cut inexplicably outta his life. From RDJ's Facebook

No robotic Thor in this movie I would assume. That was a pretty big moment in Civil War in the comics.
Anyone for robot Quicksilver?

From what I've been reading about this movie and about what's coming up in Phase 3 and now with the trailer, I really like what they're doing here. I like that they seem to be taking the Civil War idea and making it better. I did like the comic Civil War but it did have it's problem. This seems to be taking the best from that story and perfecting it. I like that the cause of the "Civil War" is Winter Soldier. I can't wait to see how Spider-Man fits into the film and how it sets the stage for what's to come. Doctor Strange is the movie after this so I'm sure the mid or after credits will be setting up that movie.

Spider-Man could have almost a movies worth of stuff on his own from this.
Have him be this young, under the radar kid, who because he has to register, is swept up into the big leagues out of nowhere and handles himself really well, gets the high life with Iron Man, then sees what they're doing as wrong and switches sides.
You could make that into a decent movie on it's own.
