We have a thread for obscure wrestling facts, so how about one for obscure facts about music?
Michael Jackson's first hit "Ben" is the first (and possibly only) hit song from a horror movie soundtrack to hit number one.
The first heavy metal video to air on MTV during its first day was Iron Maiden's "Wrathchild" ("Cant Happen Here" by Rainbow also aired later that same day as well if that counts as metal)
The first thrash metal videos made were by Anthrax in 1985,,"Madhouse" and "Gung Ho"

-Beethoven originally composed "Ode to Joy" at the beginning of his career (before he eventually put it in movement 4 of the 9th symphony.) The original is lost to this day. -In addition, seven others put the poem to music before the ninth symphony including Franz Schubert. -Mozart and Salieri wrote a Cantata and voice for piano together called Per la ricuperata salute di Ophelia. It too, is lost -Many 19th century composers put their works on sound. These include: 1. Johannes Brahms 2. Camille St. Saens (who was also filmed.) 3. Edvard Grieg

Michael Jackson owned the rights to the Beatles after Paul McCarntey advised him to get the rights to his own songs.

Not sure if obscure but the song Aqualung is about a dirty, paedophilic, homeless man.

-Ringo Starr's son Zach Starkey has played drums for both Oasis and The Who, he was taught to play by Keith Moon. -John Bonham's son Jason Bonham played with Led Zep as a child. He would later play with them during their reunion several decades later. -John Lydon attempted to kill Nancy Spungeon by cleaning his fingers with her needles, in the hope she would die of infection when shooting up. -The Sex Pistols had incredibly nice gear and a PA set up suited to arenas, this was due to the fact that Steve Jones nicked all their equipment from the Hammersmith Odeon while David Bowie was touring, whilst the roadies where sleeping. -Ian Curtis of Joy Division voted Conservative in several elections and was very pro-Thatcher. -CJ Ramone was offered a gig playing bass for Metallica after The Ramones had packed up, he chose to stay in retirement. -Freddy Mercury did not die of AIDS, he died of pneumonia. -Frank Sinatra repeatedly called Keith Richards "Ringo" when they first met. He was also so impressed by Alice Cooper's niceness towards a disabled boy at a charity baseball game that he covered one of his songs. -The Clash were arrested for stealing pillows from a hotel and shooting a pigeon.

-Freddy Mercury did not die of AIDS, he died of pneumonia. No one really dies "of AIDS", they die of a disease that their immune system, having been completely destroyed by HIV/AIDS, is unable to defend against. Pneumonia is one of the most common diseases people suffering from AIDS die of. He did in fact die as a result of having AIDS.

Waylon Jennings was Buddy Holly's bass player during the ill-fated Winter Dance Party tour. After the plane was chartered, Buddy and Waylon were joking around and Buddy said, "I hope your bus freezes up," to which Waylon replied, "Well, I hope your plane crashes!" Obviously, it was just two friends joking around, but the remark haunted Waylon for decades.

despite what people say, Slash and Duff actually didnt sign the rights to the guns n roses name over to Axl under duress, that the story of "axl said he wont perform unless they sign over the rights" is actually false...the document shows Slash and Duff signed on different days, and while GnR wernt on tour.. GNR ended the US run of the Illusions tour October 6, 1992 and didnt do another gig until November 25th, 1992. Slash singed the document on October 15th and Duff signed it on October 21st.

Two of the ten best-selling singles of all-time in the UK are by Boney M and three of that top ten were released in 1978. Mull of Kintyre was also a #1 in the UK In 1978 (it's the fourth best-selling song of all-time here) but it carried over from #1 in 1977. As She Loves You is also on the list, Paul McCartney also has two songs in there.
The double A side of Last Christmas/Everything She Wants by Wham! Is the UK's best selling single that didn't reach the top spot. In one week alone, it sold half a million copies. Do They Know It's Christmas kept it from the top.
The first #1 of the 1980s was Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd.
Led Zeppelin never released a single in their homeland until 1997 and that was a re-release of Whole Lotta Love.
Hey Jude held the record of the longest running time for a #1 single (at a little over 7 minutes) for thirty years. Then All Around the World by Oasis broke the record (it's a little under 10 minutes).

Michael Jackson owned the rights to the Beatles after Paul McCarntey advised him to get the rights to his own songs. Wow, I've been getting this screwed up for years. I honestly thought the story went, Michael Jackson talking about how much money was in licensing of songs, Paul took his advice and put his songs up, to which Michael immediately snapped them up and licensed them out. Damn, the more ya know.

I'm sure a few of you are familiar with the works of Leonard Cohen. He's often described as writing "wrist-slitting" music; overall not a writer of happy songs. So I find it pretty funny that the cover of his darkest album, Songs of Love and Hate, is the only one in his discography that features him smiling.

Barbra Streisand wanted Elvis Presley for the male lead role in A Star is Born - "they met with Elvis and discussed the film, and he was interested in taking on the part, thinking it would revive his film career. Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, insisted that Elvis have top billing and asked for a substantial sum of money for the role, even though he had not had an acting role since 1969, and people were unsure of what kind of box office draw he would be, which essentially ended Elvis's involvement with the project. Parker also did not want to have Elvis portrayed as having a show business career that was in decline. This in fact was far from the truth, with Elvis playing to packed auditoriums wherever he toured in the States."
