Episode 1:

1. Donovan Dijak beat Ashley Sixx to advance to the finals of the Top Prospect tournament

2. Will Ferrara beat Beer City Bruiser to advance to the finals of the Top Prospect tournament

- reDRagon hosted the live episode of "The Fish Tank" with special guests and opponents for the "13th Anniversary Show"...The Young Bucks. reDRagon hogged the mics and mocked the Bucks for flying their families to Japan for New Japan's "Wrestle Kingdom 9" only to lose to them, ending in a brawl between the two teams and Kyle O'Reily being laid out with a superkick.

3. Roderick Strong beat QT Marshall after a Sick Kick. post match The Decade came out an started arguing with Strong, looking like they are building to a match between him and BJ Whitmer.

4. The Kingdom (Michaell Bennett, Matt Taven & Maria Kanellis) beat the Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) & ODB. Adam Cole was on commentary, as well as distracting the Briscoes to allow The Kingdom to low blow them. finish saw Bennett and Taven superkick ODB, followed by Maria getting the pin.

Episode 2:

5. The House of Truth (Jay Lethal & J. Diesel w/Truth Martini) beat The Addiction (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian). finish saw a guy in a red mask run distract Daniels when he went for the BME, allowing Lethal to roll him up for the win.

6. Donovan Dijac beat Will Ferrara to win the Top Prospect tournament. see last post on previous page for more details.

7. reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) (c) beat The Decade (BJ Whitmer & Adam Page) to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. O'Reilly submitted Page to the cross armbreaker. Whitmer and Steve Corino got into another altercation.

Episode 3:

8. Tommaso Ciampa beat Jimmy Jacobs via referee stoppage. match was stopped after Ciampa gave repeated knees strikes to Jacobs' head while he was against the guardrail. Jay Briscoe was on commentary. post match Ciampa threw a chair at Jacobs, then got into a staredown with Jay.

9. Hanson beat The Romantic Touch. Hanson got the pin after hitting a spinning kick when RT offered him chocolates.

10. Michael Elgin vs. Moose (w/Stokely Hathaway & Veda Scott) ended in a no contest. match was stopped after Elgin got into a altercation with Jay Briscoe, and Moose accidently speared him. Mark Briscoe, Tommaso Ciampa and Hanson all ran out to join in the brawl, with Moose spearing Mark on purpose. during the match two guys in red masks appeared in the crowd.

11. The Bullet Club (AJ Styles, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) beat Matt Sydal, ACH & Cedric Alexander when Styles pinned Sydal with the Styles Clash. the two guys in red masks appeared again briefly, and got into it with The Young Bucks.

Bullet Club vs. ACH, Matt Sydal and Cedric Alexander is supposed to be off the charts amazing, match of the year stuff according to Mike Johnson at PWInsider.

{Spoiler} After the match, Whitmer again screwed with Corino who hit the ring. Several attendants hit the ring to stop them. Corino shoved one, who was actually his son Colby down. Corino apologized but The Decade surrounded Colby and appeared to be trying to talk to him. I am pretty sure that was the start of an angle. ~ PWInsider

The main event was bananas. Such a great match. Find time to watch it!

Jay Diesel is...horrible.

Dijak has potential. I don't think he's comfortable in his body yet. When he gets some more experience and gets more comfortable, he could be special. I also liked Ashley Sixx, who Dijak faced earlier in the night.

No surprise the Main Event was fantastic. Just look at who was in it.

Also, since coming back to ROH, has Sydal even won a match? He's eaten the pin in just about every match he's been in.

Defeated ACH to get into the finals of Survival Of The Fittest Elimination Match, but other than that I can't think of any other win he has had either...

ROH PLACES HIGH IN THE ANNUAL “WRESTLING OBSERVER NEWSLETTER” AWARDS



Ring of Honor Wrestling concluded a great 2014 by being recognized in many categories of the 35th annual Wrestling Observer Newsletter readership awards. These awards are generally regarded as the most prestigious in pro wrestling and are recognized worldwide. The awards are based on the time frame from December 1, 2013 through November 30, 2014.

Congratulations to AJ STYLES, who won the MOST OUTSTANDING WRESTLER award and finished 2nd in the WRESTLER OF THE YEAR award, named for Lou Thesz and Ric Flair respectively. KYLE O’REILLY and ADAM COLE each received Honorable Mention votes in this category.

Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions, reDRagon (BOBBY FISH and KYLE O’REILLY) placed 2nd in the TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR. First place went to former ROH World Tag Team Champions, THE YOUNG BUCKS. O’Reilly also finished second for the BEST TECHNICAL WRESTLER award.

RING OF HONOR WRESTLING placed 2nd in both PROMOTION OF THE YEAR and BEST WEEKLY TV SHOW.

Ring of Honor World Champion JAY BRISCOE finished 5th for the BRUISER BRODY MEMORIAL AWARD for Best Brawler, with Ring of Honor Alum and former 3-time winner, KEVIN STEEN finishing 4th.

Former NFL Offensive Lineman and product of the ROH TRYOUT CAMP system, Quinn “MOOSE” Ojinkaka, placed 2nd in the ROOKIE OF THE YEAR category, while CEDRIC ALEXANDER came in 8th for the MOST IMPROVED award, with KYLE O’REILLY, JAY LETHAL, HANSON and ADAM COLE receiving Honorable Mention votes as well.

ADAM COLE VS JAY BRISCOE received Honorable Mention votes in the FEUD OF THE YEAR category.

ROH’s Announcing team of KEVIN KELLY and STEVE CORINO finished 6th and 4th respectively for the BEST ANNOUNCER award. ROH Matchmaker NIGEL MCGUINNESS received the most Honorable Mention votes.

MARIA KANELLIS got first place votes and finished 10th in the BEST NON-WRESTLER category, with TRUTH MARTINI and VEDA SCOTT capturing Honorable Mentions.

Ring of Honor COO JOE KOFF placed 5th in the PROMOTER OF THE YEAR category.

A VIEW FROM RINGSIDE - PHILADELPHIA

Some things change but some things stay the same.

I’ve been to the building before but Saturday, at the famous arena on the corner of Swanson and Ritner in Philly with a new look, felt very comfortable as Ring of Honor taped TV and wowed the fans once again. Here are some of my thoughts.

I’ve said it before in this column. Roderick Strong looks better than ever and made a statement with a sudden victory over QT Marshall. No slight to QT… I don’t know if anyone can beat Roddy at this time. Strong goes to Dearborn this Friday to face Jay Lethal for the World Television Championship and he’s my pick to win.

The rivalry between reDRagon and the Young Bucks has started to pick up in intensity and their ROH World Tag Team Championship match scheduled for the 13th Anniversary event on Sunday, March 1st from Las Vegas, NV on Pay-per-View will be much different than the ROH Match of the Year these two teams had last May. Champions are the favorite in most title defenses but who is the favorite?

Jay Briscoe must know that he is going to have to absorb more punishment than he ever has before on Sunday March 1st. Hanson, Ciampa and Elgin all want the ROH World Championship and Saturday, they made no secret about their target. Jay Briscoe went “All In” but has to be questioning that decision, even though Jay has never been one to back away or back up.

Somewhere, sometime, Maria Kanellis is going to get caught.

I love the ROH Top Prospect Tournament and the four men that made it to Philly were amazing. I take great pride that every Top Prospect entrant has attended at least one ROH Tryout Camp and it speaks volumes about the value of the ROH Tryout Camps. Next one is March 21st and 22nd and you can find more about it here

What’s going through Steve Corino’s mind after what happened Saturday? I don’t know how I would react if I was in his spot but it’s got to be frustrating. I tried to talk to him about it but didn’t want to press.

I don’t know who or what KRD is all about but we have more questions than answers at this time. Speculation is good but who is behind this? What is their agenda? Target?

I find myself a frequent “ear” to many ROH stars. While I would never divulge anything that is said to me in confidence, I was told by one wrestler in particular that they plan on making a huge change very soon.

Injuries happen all the time in wrestling but so do recoveries...and returns. Get ready!

Alberto El Patrón vs Jay Lethal - Live on PPV - Sun, March 1st



Rumors of a dream match have swirled on social media but now it is official. The legendary, 2nd generation Mexican wrestling star, Alberto El Patrón, will challenge Jay Lethal for the Ring of Honor World Television Championship live on Pay Per View at our 13th Anniversary event.

Upon his arrival in ROH, Alberto El Patrón wanted an opportunity to speak with his fans on ROH Television. Alberto proclaimed that he was finally among the best wrestlers on the planet and he wanted a shot at the most important title in professional wrestling, the ROH World Championship. Lethal and his manager, Truth Martini took major offense to this and Lethal interrupted Alberto, telling him he should have done his homework before coming to class. Lethal made it known that he is the measuring stick for the best professional wrestler on the planet and that his championship was the most important.

Alberto proceeded to give Lethal the chance to prove his superiority to which Martini informed him it wasn’t the time. But Lethal demanded an apology and strongly asked for one a week later following Alberto’s successful TV debut match against Christopher Daniels. El Patrón responded with a slap across Lethal’s face but was jumped from behind by J. Diesel and Truth Martini.

While Alberto meant no disrespect when he said he wanted to face the ROH World Champion, Lethal has evidence to back up his claim of being the greatest champion in ROH. He holds every individual record associated with the ROH World Television Championship. He has faced and defeated nearly every top name in his time in Ring of Honor. The son of Dos Caras and nephew of Mil Mascaras, Alberto El Patrón has a storied athletic history ripe with amateur wrestling credentials, professional MMA and various professional wrestling championships.

This meeting of two very different athletes in the prime of their careers is something that does not happen very often. This rivalry has taken on a personal twist as Lethal feels Alberto overlooked him as a champion. El Patrón believes Lethal has challenged his manhood, something for which Alberto will not stand.

The TV Title match is interesting, I cannot see El Patron losing but I cannot see Lethal winning, especially with them coming to SA a few weeks later. I'm guessing Lethal gets DQ'd or something at the PPV, El Patron wins a rematch at the title WrestleMania weekend and then takes the title April 5 in SA. Even if he only holds it to the next show, I cannot see them denying SA a moment like that after doing twice in one show in Nov.

I'm guessing it goes to a time limit draw, Lethal eventually dethrones Jay for the world title, which makes him vacate the TV title, and then they have a built in reason for Del Rio to challenge Lethal for the world title.
