They've deserved it for a while. ROH's 2014 is the best year the company has had in a long time. That being said, these shows from the latest taping sound headscratch worthy. I hope that's just a minor blip though and it won't become a recurring theme. The only thing about ROH right now is the main event scene seems very average. Briscoe is there but now Cole is injured, Ciampa is stuck in almost purgatory because of how he is being booked right now and Elgin flat out sucks. AJ's only there from time to time and there's not really anyone else. Hanson is a talented guy but I wish they'd let him get over a bit more before they strapped the rocket to him. He still needs a bit of polishing and the push feels a little forced at the minute. I hope The Decade thing continues to progress because the BJ/Page/Jacobs tandem is so damn intriuging. I honestly believe if they push the story correctly Page could be the breakout star of this year.

Most satisfying purchase I've made in a while. Glad it came out so early in their run too so that this collection has absolutely everything you could want from their joint career thus far.

While we're on the subject, I'm very surprised at the total absence of Kyle O'Reily on "Most Improved Wrestler of 2014" lists. He's always been great in the ring, so maybe people are quite seeing how much crisper he is now (granted he improves radically year after year) but with the possible exception of Seth Rollins, I doubt there's a more improved promo in all of wrestling over a one year span.

Seriously, watch a Kyle promo from December 2012, then one from December 2013, then watch one from May/June 2014 and then one from December 2014. Hard to believe it's the same guy.

I agree Hanson's a bit forced. I like him a lot, but there hasn't really been much of a road for him as far as getting into the main events. Granted, they're just trying to keep him relevant until Raymond Rowe comes back, but there is definitely a floundering, make it up as you go along feeling with everything they're doing with him right now. I also agree that AJ's sporadic appearances are a bit unsatisfying because he's never around for anything to really sink your teeth into, and fear that it's gonna be the case with El Patron, too. Also the Decade really are great, and just them popping in for a second for Dominic's match already gets your wheels spinning into where that's gonna go. I can't picture a guy of his size being a youngboy.

I like what Elgin is doing now that the sloppy turn is over with. Ciampa I think is still hot but he needs that feud that puts him over the top into that Adam Cole position of "PUSH HIM NOW." Briscoe/Ciampa could be a badass feud but one of them would need to be a heel, and I'm not sure either of them need to be heel right now.

I know this may at first sound like minutia or inside-baseball nitpicking, but if you Google the name "Hanson," he's not even on the first five pages of results. As a performer, he really brings something fresh and different to the company, but I'm struggling to see why they haven't added even a first or last name to the one word title of a band that made a huge mark on pop culture, three of Hockey's most identifiable skaters and one of the most common city names in the country.

It's interesting how absurdly stacked the midcard is right now, compared to what's in the main event scene due to injuries/absences. I really thought Jacobs was going to be the main event feud going into Final Battle and given Briscoe's status as the "Since day one" guy and The Decade's whole ideology about what ROH has become and how under-appreciated they are, a Briscoe-Jacobs feud writes itself, especially considering that Jacobs is putting on better promos than ever at the moment.

You also have Jay Lethal who has re-elevated himself, as well as Truth Martini and the TV Title so much over the course of his reign. All three are so fresh right now that at this point the best way to get the title off Lethal would be to beat Briscoe for the belt and have the title vacated.

I think, if they do drop the strap for whatever reason or maybe while still carrying them, Bobby Fish in a main event feud with Briscoe could be great right now. After all, Fish was one of the last guys to cleanly pin Briscoe in a tag match in early 2013.

I think those three could be believable main eventers right now, even for short programs while Ciampa or whomever are elevated.

I think that's a fair point. Although they've recently (or maybe I'm just noticing now) been calling him "Warbeard Hanson" but I'm not really sure that's much of an improvement. With a silly name like that and a finisher called "Spin Kick of Doom" it makes it a bit hard for me to take him seriously. His in ring work is a saving grace but I'm not otherwise connecting with him much.

I love all of these ideas, Jimmy Jacobs especially who's been selflessly playing second fiddle to a ton of guys for an incredible amount of time now.

Just wanted to say I agree about reDragon being an awesome team, and Kyle O'Reilly being an awesome wrestler, I remember the first time I saw him in ROH and he had a match with Davey Richards, and I remember thinking this guy is awesome.

THE ROH WINTER WARRIORS TOUR is making another stop in Dayton! We return to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum on Saturday night January 31, 2015.

In a battle of the last two ROH Top Prospect Tournament winners, The Kingdom’s Matt Taven will take on War Machine’s Hanson! Hanson is someone the fans of Ring of Honor have taken to in droves, while the man who calls himself “Must See” has purposely angered and looked down on those very same fans. Hanson is a brute who has brought a level of intensity that is unmatched, while Taven brings a brash confidence and a nearly unequaled aerial style. Hanson is currently is on a record setting pace as a solo competitor. A win over Taven would further propel him into the stratosphere as a top contender. Taven is no stranger to Hanson as they faced off in New England in their formative years. He will certainly bring his “A” game to Dayton in hopes of derailing the bearded warrior.

Ciampa's ROH career could have ended at FINAL BATTLE when he collided with an official and violated the "zero tolerance" policy governing his reinstatement. But as we saw on ROH TV, Nigel McGuinness stepped in and made the call. While he does believe that Ciampa accidentally struck an official he ruled that this is Ciampa's last chance. The zero tolerance policy remains in effect and Ciampa will be held fully responsible if he violates it.

If it's about earning opportunities, who has done more to elevate himself in the past year than Hanson? Nigel has already decided to make the night's scheduled contest of Elgin vs. Hanson a Number One Contender's match. That battle would have been incredibly heated no matter what, given the growing rivalry between the competitors. But then Nigel added Ciampa to the mix! The resulting three way match recently aired on ROH TV, with many calling it an early match of the year contender! But the hostilities couldn't be contained, and the match degenerated into a disqualification. We STILL have no number one contender.

We really can't discuss the top contender without talking about the ROH World Champion, Jay Briscoe. One of only two men to capture the title twice, Briscoe never backs down from a challenge. And with several ROH stars gunning for him, he's sworn to go "all in"! The champion himself has asked that all three men with a claim to the number one contender status get a shot at him - because he can beat them all!

Just a few more days and Ring of Honor makes its long awaited return to South Philadelphia! We are back at one of the most legendary venues in professional wrestling - and we are about to make history once again! The 2300 Arena (the former ECW Arena) will be playing host to a full night of ROH action filmed for television! If you've never experienced ROH live then Philadelphia is THE place to make it happen! - QT MARSHALL vs. RODERICK STRONG

On January 24th, QT Marshall will take on "Mr. ROH" Roderick Strong! Just a week later, Roddy is scheduled to challenge Jay Lethal for his ROH World Television Championship. So chances are he'll be less than amused by QT Marshall's usual showboating. Strong has resolved to show the world why he's the pinnacle of ROH athletes and climb all the way back to the World Championship. But for all of his over-the-top self worship, QT Marshall is an incredibly talented athlete - and an incredibly smart competitor. He obviously knows what a win over someone with Roderick Strong's credentials would do to elevate his ROH career.

- HANSON vs. THE ROMANTIC TOUCH

- THE BRISCOES & ODB vs. MICHAEL BENNETT, MATT TAVEN, & MARIA KANELLIS

We may have turned the page on a new year, but it was made crystal clear in Nashville that the rivalry between The Kingdom and The Briscoes is FAR from forgotten. With Bennett and Maria still flaunting their bogus "Title of Love" and Matt Taven to back them up, The Kingdom continues to antagonize Dem Boys at every single opportunity. Finally, Mark Briscoe declared that he "can't stand no more" and challenged Bennett and Taven to a tag match.

But in the aftermath of that encounter, the "Title of Love" made another appearance - as a weapon. Seemingly outnumbered, The Briscoes were forced to listen while Maria gloated about The Kingdom's superiority - and taunted them because, as she pointed out, they would never lay a hand on a woman.

Well...Maria Kanellis might be off limits to Dem Boys, but she forgot that the Briscoe "family" tree branches out a whole lot further than Sandy Fork! To the complete shock of everyone in the building, ODB hit the ring to run off The Kingdom! That's right - ODB is here in ROH!

Her unconventional style and attitude brought ODB years of professional wrestling success. Now she's come to Ring of Honor with her sights set on The Kingdom! With turmoil surrounding the number one contender, we are all tuning into ROH TV to find out what happens! As a former World Champion looking to reclaim his glory, Elgin knows that all eyes are on him as we head toward the 13th Anniversary Pay-Per-View in Las Vegas!

And this is exactly why Veda Scott has been incessantly lobbying ROH officials for her client MOOSE to face Elgin in Philadelphia. Veda insists that Moose is the future of professional wrestling and deserves the highest level of competition. And with Stokely Hathaway providing the mental guidance and motivational acumen, Moose might have signed on with the perfect "team" to take him to the top!

- IN RING FISH TANK with reDRagon

The ROH World Tag Team Champions have returned! After successfully defending the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Championship in front of tens of thousands in the Tokyo Dome, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly are once again driving the reDRagon Wagon on American soil. They have requested a live, in-ring forum to produce a special episode of The Fish Tank. We don't know who they plan to invite as a guest or what on earth they want to talk about, but we are giving them the spotlight on January 24th in Philadelphia!

They did some nice big man/little man spots early. Ferrara had Donovan on the run but he cut him off with a big kick, Donovan whipped him hard into the buckles. Ferrara nailed Donovan with both knees. Ferrara locked in a submission but Donovan fought back The Decade came to the ring. Veda Scott, Bob Evans and Truth Martini also came out, so the idea is they are being scouted,

They battled to the apron. Ferrara tried to hit a back suplex to the floor but was fought off. Donovan hit an insane backflip off the apron to the floor, wiping him out. Donovan brought him back to the ring and went for his finisher but Ferrara slipped out and rolled him up for a two count. Ferrara then nailed a Code Red for a two count.

Donovan came back with his Torture Rack into the knee and scored the pin,

Another really good showing for both men. A star is born in Dijac for sure! All the managers began trying to get him to sigh with them.
