This year’s match will be an odd one, as there are only 3 title holders in ROH. The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Michael Bennett) are the current ROH World Tag Team Champions and Jay Lethal is the undisputed ROH World & World Television Champion. This situation poses a problem as Lethal has top contenders to both of his championships who want a shot at knocking him from his perch.

“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles is the #1 contender to Jay Lethal’s ROH World Championship after All Star Extravaganza VII and would love to prove himself as an all-star and contender. Due to the ending moments of both of their matches at All Star Extravaganza VII, “The Infamous” Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly could be considered as both singles competitors and top contenders to the tag team championships. They would are both looking for an opportunity to get back at Jay Lethal. “Mr ROH” Roderick Strong has a sour taste in his mouth after taking Lethal to a 60 minute draw at Death Before Dishonor, then getting the short end of a return match after The HOT interfered. He is still performing at an elite level and winning matches, which keeps him in the hunt for a spot.

The Addiction, War Machine, The Briscoes and The Young Bucks are all looking to get their hands on the Kingdom. The Addiction were not pinned when they lost their championships and have been claiming that there was a conspiracy to get the championships off them. War Machine recently defeated The Kingdom on ROH Television, they were successful on a recent tour of Japan and they believe it is their time. The Young Bucks had The Addiction defeated at ASE VII when Taven sneaked in and stole the victory out from under them. The brash duo would be great teammates with a strong desire to not only win, but look great doing it. The Briscoes are the measuring sticks in tag team wrestling! They are former 8x tag team champions and an invitation to the All Stars would be something the Briscoes and fans would love.

The pressure is now on ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness. We have heard rumblings coming from his office that he is currently going to change the format to a 6 man Champions vs. All Stars match up. This would be the first time in history and speaks to the greatness of Jay Lethal. Truth Martini, who claims to be the greatest manager in ROH history, is on top of this. He has threatened to hold out on signing any contract with Jay Lethal unless the Champions vs All Stars match is fair to the champ.

Insane thought out of the NWA talking with SPIKE thread, Spike is open to wrestling but wants more women friendly programming, ROH has decided to get serious about the Women of Honor out of nowhere and I think they've had talks in the past. Might not be in talks no but cannot help but wonder if that isn't an attempt to get a look.

I think it got more to do with ROH wanting something to do with the women on the roster. A number of the women wrestle in other companies. Make sense to use them besides eye candy.

THE WOMEN OF HONOR ARE BACK IN FULL EFFECT

I pride myself on always, ALWAYS having a plan. Plans A through Q, at the very least, with a few next best case scenarios in reserve. So when I started hearing rumblings that ROH was bringing back the Women of Honor, naturally I headed to my office (the first step to any good plan is a Well-Organized Chart-Making Location) and started formulating my own goals and strategies.

I won't be sharing the full extent of my findings here in this blog (the second step to a good plan is Shhhh, It's A Secret), obviously. However, I felt it imperative that I properly put the world "on notice" re: the Women of Honor. Right now, this very second, the female athletes in professional wrestling are more talented and more driven than ever before. The return of the Women of Honor was an inevitability. Ring of Honor promises to deliver the best professional wrestling on the planet - period. The Women of Honor have made it our mission to deliver on that promise of excellence.

Recently in Lockport, NY, I had the privilege of stepping into the ring with an international veteran in Sumie Sakai. Obviously, the end result was a foregone conclusion, but (I very humbly submit) the fight between us truly established that the Women of Honor are back in full effect. I plan to be back in that ring as soon as possible, be it against Sumie Sakai or any of the other athletes joining our quickly growing roster.

Personally, I am most looking forward to seeing who seizes the opportunity to compete among the Women of Honor. Some of us, like myself and Taeler Hendrix, are already familiar to ROH fans for our affiliations with athletes like Cedric Alexander and the House of Truth. But make no mistake - I know for a fact that Cedric and I share the exact same goals for my in-ring career as for his. The Women of Honor gives us yet another avenue to rise to the top of ROH.

Speaking of affiliations within ROH, perhaps the most intriguing development coming out of last weekend has to be the appearance of "Kelly Klein" alongside The Decade's BJ Whitmer. Whitmer has introduced Klein as a woman who might be unfamiliar to ROH fans right now, but who has been clawing and scraping her way through professional wrestling while other allegedly less-deserving athletes were handed opportunities. In other words, it appears the ethos of The Decade is not restricted to male competitors.

Who will be the next athlete to step up and join the Women of Honor? I know I personally have some ideas for who I want to challenge in an ROH ring. My vision for the Women of Honor reflects the diversity of styles and techniques that makes ROH the best professional wrestling on the planet. It's true that we Women of Honor may have very divergent personalities and strategies. But in the end, ambition and motivation are so much more than a hashtag or an inspirational quote on your social media. The Women of Honor will prove that athletes who make their mark in ROH - male or female - are the hardest working and most passionate in the entire sport. - VS

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE KINGDOM (MATT TAVEN & MICHAEL BENNETT) w/MARIA KENLLIS vs THE ADDICTION (CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & FRANKIE KAZARIAN)

Matt Taven & Michael Bennett are having a great year! In April they toured Japan and defeated Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson and Doc Gallows, The Bullet Club, to win the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. They would lose those championships after a reign of nearly 3 months, but the sting of that defeat would not last long. At All Star Extravaganza VII The Kingdom would win the ROH World Tag Team Championships. The champions walking into ASE VII? The Addiction.

“The General” Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian want their ROH World Tag Team Championships back. The Addiction believes there is a conspiracy against them. Neither Daniels nor Kazarian were pinned when they lost their titles, so this is the basis of their conspircacy theory. This match goes against that theory, but Daniels has not changed his outlook.

This contest is not simply about the challengers looking to get their championships back. Michael Bennett wants revenge for Christopher Daniels' actions at ASE VII. The Queen of The Kingdom, Maria Kanellis, jumped up on the apron to assist her team and was promptly met with a straight right hand by Daniels. Bennett has been incensed since that moment and wants revenge for Daniels' actions.

In April The Addiction and Chris Sabin shockingly revealed themselves to be The Knights of The Rising Dawn. The KRD were a mysterious group that had attacked Ring of Honor superstars and released anti-ROH propaganda for months. At the 14th Anniversary Spectacular, The KRD made an appearance wearing Kingdom T-shirts. This enraged the Kingdom and prompted a then-injured Adam Cole to publicly state that the Kingdom was not the KRD. Fast forward to All Star Extravaganza VII and a masked man dressed as one of the KRD charged out and hit Christopher Daniels with Cradle Shock, the finishing move of Chris Sabin. Is this a case of The Kingdom playing mind games? If so, it cost The Addiction their championship and they want retribution.

With neither team being well liked, could an advantage come from potentially getting the KZoo crowd on their side? Can you imagine if The Kingdom overcame The Addiction because the fans reaction provided them with that extra boost needed to win? What if the fans found themselves forgiving the despicable actions of The Addiction for one night and became the difference in them winning the ROH World Tag Team Championships again? While neither team cares, it does make for a unique environment. BETRAYAL: THE FACTS BEHIND ADAM COLE’S ACTIONS AGAINST KYLE O’REILLY

Beginning in 2010, Future Shock combined the forces of two of the brightest stars on Ring of Honor’s horizon. Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly grew as a team and as friends and that bond was a huge part of their success. Ultimately, jealousy and personal issues grew between the two and the team’s bond was severed. But a rekindling of an old friendship and an unlikely partnership came at just the right time for Adam Cole, who was seemingly on the outs with the Kingdom in the summer of 2015.

In 2014, with Adam Cole riding high as World Champion, the Kingdom began to take shape as Cole strengthened his grip on the World title but things began to change when Cole could not regain the World Title from Jay Briscoe at Final Battle 2014 as well as Cole’s trip to the injured list that followed. Rumors of dissatisfaction were quickly scoffed at, despite months of silence from Adam Cole. His inner frustration at losing the World title, unable to conquer Jay Briscoe was the catalyst.

His Kingdom mates, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven were friends prior to joining Ring of Honor and Bennett reached out to Taven when the former TV Champions’ own world crumbled in August of 2014. Without Cole, the first two Top Prospect Tournament winners, along with Maria Kanellis formed a successful trio, capturing ROH Tag Team gold at All-Star Extravaganza and a certain split was on the immediate horizon.

Or so it appeared.

For it was at All-Star Extravaganza when Adam Cole shocked the world and his former Future Shock tag team partner with betrayal the likes of which surprised even the most hardened fans. Those who had “seen it all” had never seen anything like this.

The question remained, “why”? Here is what we have learned to help answer this bitter-tasting question.

When Nigel McGuinness announced the World Title contenders after Best in the World 2015, he left Adam Cole off the list. The ROH matchmaker declared Roderick Strong as Number 1 contender and since O'Reilly had a win and time-limit draw over Jay Lethal, Kyle was next in line for a shot.

Unbeknownst to anyone, this sent Adam Cole over the edge as jealousy and a deep down hatred for what O'Reilly has achieved drove the former World Champion to design his plan for sabotage. His former partner obviously had Jay Lethal's number and the thought of Kyle O'Reilly as ROH Champion bothered Cole more than anything.

But why? Reports are Cole felt he was the "star" of Future Shock and, in his opinion, he the one who was destined to shine. Cole feels that O'Reilly rode his coat tails and isn't in the same league.

Flash forward to All-Star Extravaganza and the plan all came together. While the odds were in O'Reilly's favor to unseat Jay Lethal and become the ROH World Champion, Adam Cole made sure Kyle’s dreams would be shattered. Not only would Kyle not win the title, Cole has vowed that O'Reilly never will win the title as long as Cole is alive.

How sick is Adam Cole to design a scenario that turned out the way it did? Kyle was a pawn in an emotional game that he will never forget. We were all witness to a plot that was created to destroy O'Reilly and any chance of him achieving the top prize and it was executed exactly the way Adam Cole wanted.

It was Cole decided that he would side by O'Reilly up until he had his title shot, lying to O’Reilly and all the fans that Future Shock was real and their bond was inseparable. It was Cole wanted to be the one who took the World Championship away from Kyle. It was Cole who wanted to cause emotional distress that would forever last in O'Reilly.

With all of this now on the table, it’s plain to see that the Kingdom is now stronger than ever. Not only is the four-person unit thinking as one but Adam Cole has shown that he is capable of anything to get what he wants. This quartet of snakes, as they describe themselves, now slithers in the open for the world to see, proud of what they have done.

The pain of “what could have been” regarding the ROH World Championship for Kyle O’Reilly is palpable as is the satisfaction for Adam Cole.

Now you know the “why” but the question I am left is “what’s next?”

This is awesome, I live maybe 10 minutes from the building. From the sounds of it, it won't be held in the hockey arena portion of the building, but the convention center building of the complex, which is still a big upgrade over the Trade Center.

THE CHAMPIONS VS ALL STARS MATCH HAS BEEN SET
Saturday, October 24th, 2015 - Dayton, Ohio



The ROH tradition of CHAMPIONS VS. ALL STARS returns this year on October 24th! This year, we are coming to you from Dayton, OH for a huge night of your favorite ROH stars, capped off by the Champions vs. All Stars challenge match. In this match, all the current ROH champions unite to form one team. On the other side, the men considered to be the most on-fire athletes in Ring of Honor and some of the top title contenders.

This year, the dynamic of the teams will be slightly different than it has been in the past. Last year, Jay Lethal was one of four men on the Champions team, representing the ROH World Television Championship. In the ensuing year, Lethal has captured the World Championship as well...while managing to hang on to the TV Title! That means that Champions vs. All Stars 2015 will now be a 3-on-3 elimination match. The other champions alongside Lethal, Michael Bennett and Matt Taven, only recently won gold at ALL STAR EXTRAVAGANZA. This is one of the first outings for The Kingdom as champions, but they'll have Maria Kanellis in their corner.

The All Stars team will be see Roderick Strong, the perennial ace of ROH. "Mr. ROH" has never been more physically fit and athletically impressive than he is right now, a major accolade considering he's always been considered among the best in the world. And he's had his sights locked on Jay Lethal for months. While Strong has not been successful in his quest for Lethal's gold, many claim that has a lot to do with the interfering presence of the House of Truth.

The current Number One Contender to the ROH World Championship, AJ Styles, is the second man on the All Star team! And, like Strong, Styles no doubt sees a huge target on Lethal's back. At the same time, Styles and the Bullet Club have ongoing hostilities with The Kingdom and their NJPW alliance, CHAOS. This is sure to be a volatile mix of athletes on October 24th!

The last man on the All Star team will be ACH! At last year's CHAMPIONS VS. ALL STARS event, ACH was the standout competitor, outlasting nearly every other man in the match and very nearly pulling off the victory. He is determined to go all the way for 2015! ACH is coming off a massive victory on the ROH Reloaded tour, where he won a Four Corner Survival against Michael Elgin, Adam Cole, and Moose. Can the momentum he's riding now carry him through to victory in Dayton?
