I enjoy the current system much more the BCS, but I still think it sucks. Personally, I think 8 would be a good number. My ideal system (Though no one remotely cares): - Eight teams. - A committee that isn't so vague/dubious - Don't have the playoffs/bowl games a month+ from the end of the season. A week or two is enough.

I still think you've got to do a 16 team playoff. The 10 conference champs get automatic bids, and then you've got 6 at large bids.

So let's say you replace TCU and Baylor with Texas and Oklahoma. Same record. Same ranking. Same head-to-head scenario.
Would the committee be as quick to put Ohio State ahead of them?

I bet they are wishing they had not jumped TCU to number three last week, because it's going to look bad when they drop TCU from third to fifth tomorrow.
I think it will be Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, and Ohio State. I would feel a little more confident about this had TCU been sitting at number four instead of number 3. I think avoiding the TCU/Baylor debate will be so tempting to the committee that they will have Ohio State bump TCU from the playoffs, which will look kind of bad considering TCU was sitting at number three before their blowout win.

Geez the committee had a lousy day. None of the playoff candidates lose. So who gets left out? OSU may have had the performance of the year in destroying a good Wiscy team from the opening bell, certainly helping their chances. As much as FSU has scabdicked it this season they are still undefeated. TCU killed ISU. Not nearly as impressive as killing Wiscy but being that TCU was already #3? Oregon and bama made their statements for #1, IMO Oregon's was stronger. Bay beat a solid KSU team by two scores but already being behind the others is that nearly enough?
The committee hasn't had a problem with dropping FSU down for winning fugly but they aren't going to drop FSU out altogether. Like it or not they're in.
Fair or not I'd say Baylor is screwed. It will be a nailbiter between TCU and OSU, I'd imagine the meeting will get a little heated on this one.
It took all of one season to show that the playoff needs to be eight teams. It's crap that any of the 1-loss teams will be left out.

1. Oregon 2. Alabama 3. Florida State 4. Ohio State

I know everybody can't stand FSU and they've just been barely squeaking by, but I still think they should get in. They're the defending National Champions, they still haven't lost, and seemingly, no one can beat them. I say put 'em in.
I think the Top 4 will be Alabama, Oregon, FSU, and Ohio State. So the committee will have avoided the TCU/Baylor stuff. But in my opinion, I think TCU should get in. They're ranked Number 3 and as far as I'm concerned, they didn't do anything yesterday to lose that.

If an eight team playoff were the case, then the teams involved would be Alabama, Oregon, TCU, FSU, Ohio State, Baylor, Michigan State, and Mississippi St.

Div 1 College football has never and will never have an actual champion right now they a still have such a joke of a regular season that going undefeated does not guarantee you a shot at the championship. Back with they called it Mythical and everyone accepted that it was more a beauty contest than a measure of which team was actually the best that was fine but now people act like being named champion means something all it meas was computers or some people liked most likely for idiotic reasons. What really gets me is outside of D1 every single other college division ii iii NCIA has legitimate national champions. D1 football just angers me I do not know why people put up with it.

The reason the committee is in the situation it's in right now is because they put TCU over Florida State last week. That should never have happened.
Now, if they decide that either Baylor or Ohio State gets in due to conference championships and head-to-head, that will mean that TCU will drop from 3 to 6 and that's all on the committee and their vague ass criteria in determining the top 4.

There will never be a 16 team playoff. The importance of the regular season dictates this. When that many teams can get in it is no longer elite and loses luster. Four is ok for now. Eight you could still do w/o effecting the importance of the regular season too badly as top ten teams usually are one loss teams

The committee screwed things up by dropping FSU for winning close. I don't see how they change the top four without looking stupid at this point - the top three all won big, and FSU ended up 13-0. They needed a team or two to lose and it didn't happen.

They needed a team or two to lose and it didn't happen. Yep. They should never have dropped FSU to 4th last week. I think FSU will definitely get in, but the committee ranking TCU third last week makes it more complicated than it needs to be. Last week the committee said that the 'head-to-head' between Baylor and TCU didn't matter. If they decide it matters this week, then why didn't it matter last week? I think ultimately the committee will jump Ohio State to fourth and drop TCU to fifth. This will raise eyebrows because of how high they ranked TCU last week and how dominantly TCU played last night. The argument will be: "What changed for TCU? Why would they drop?" Now let's bring this back to your point about FSU last week. Had the committee kept FSU at number three, then potentially dropping TCU out of the top four in favor of Ohio State wouldn't have looked as bad.

Expanding the playoffs so every team has a Chance to win a championship. Under the current system not everyone does and the vast majority of the regular season is a pointless waste.

Gentlemen, we are at a conundrum. It is a given that 2 of the 4 playoff teams will be hated due to one reason or another (Alabama: SEC bias for god knows how many years; Florida State: Cover up of Winston's transgressions). And we'll have a third team that many will feel should not be there for one reason or another. We must band together and rally around a team that we can hope will win the National Championship. Because.....Ducks Fly Together.
