Especially Paul Butterfield, Lou Reed, and Bill Withers.

I'd think it's pretty safe to assume that Dookie and American Idiot were the main factors into Green Day going in.

I have plenty of issues with the HoF, but I think these are all pretty worthy entries. Good for them.

I predicted almost all of these, with the exception of Linda Ronstadt-I really thought she'd go in over Joan Jett, as this was her second try.

I'd be ok with Green Day getting in for Dookie alone That album is right up there with Weezer Blue and Appetite for Destruction in terms of awesomeness.

Yeah, there are other acts that are still long overdue for an induction, but Green Day's definitely one of them as well.

Linda Ronstadt is already in. rockhall.com/inductees/linda-ronstadt/I'm fine with this year's class; almost everyone I voted for made it. Good to see all four of The Beatles are finally in as solo artists.

So now all of The Beatles are in there twice, though Ringo's solo induction seems more of a special achievement honor.

Green Day has been my favorite band for 20 years now so I'm obviously happy that they are getting inducted. I'm also happy to see Bill Withers get in. I was first introduced to his music when I was young by my Dad. When Dad told me that Withers was from West Virginia, I became more interested because we don't have many national acts from this state. Almost everyone knows "Lean On Me" and "Just The Two Of Us" but "Grandma's Hands" was always my favorite of his.

So...aside from the whole 25-year thing...what are the other criteria for induction?
To me, it seems like it's one huge political play.

Much like WWE, it's amazing how many bands are allowed to go to the front of the line.
While I'm not a fan of Green Day, I don't deny they belong in there, however once again it's way too soon.
I know the next step would to continue to appease the teenage fanbase and put NIN in there next. Again...way too soon.
I guess Iron Maiden will have a shot in about another 25 years.

How many teens listen to NIN? Seems most of the NIN fans are at least mid 20s or older. If they were appeasing the teenage fanbase a group like One Direction or whatever would go in.

Happy to see Green Day in there, even if I haven't been gung ho about their recent stuff.
Still think 'Weird Al' deserves a spot. I'll champion that cause until I'm blue in the face

How do you turn a duck into a soul singer?
Put it in the microwave until it's Bill Withers.

I am tickled about this. Green Day is one of my favorite bands ever, so to see them in is a great sight.
Also glad to see Joan Jett make it in, after seeing her in concert.

Am I the only human being on Earth that thinks Lou Reed was good, not great?
