If they hired some action movie star showed up and main evented wrestlemania Except for Vin Diesel, because nobody doubts Diesel.

Even actors and actresses might be "too much" for the equivalent, simply because it is "sports entertainment"- and any good enough actor or actress to make a name for themselves knows the bare minimum of entertaining a crowd [so they'd be able to cut a promo and get over.]
This leads to more of a problem: The mix would have to be:
-They'll get large amounts of media buzz
-They have no experience at anything beneficial to pro wrestling whatsoever
-They're in a position that would piss any real wrestling fan off not just that they got the option (and WWE's usually good with that- the last "celebrity that'd piss people off to be there" you could think of was Snooki at Wrestlemania 27- and she was involved with a throwaway Divas' match that didn't take anything off the table)
-Even going into the match- win or lose, you kind of know that the WWE's truly jumped the shark just by booking it- and no matter the result, pro wrestling is going to be worse for it having existed- and WHEN the person wins, that'll be it for pro wrestling as a whole.
Put them together, my claim would be:
Brock Lesnar loses the WWE WHC to Honey Boo Boo.

It has to be GSP. He's kind of in the CM Punk position of walking away and having heat with the company. He was also one of the biggest draws UFC had. Am I really the first to mention him?

The WWE equivalent of UFC signing CM Punk, would be WWE signing CM Punk

Yknow another one would be Adam Sandler. Sandler's a famous name, has never wrestled before, no competitive athletic background, has been shown in the crowd at WWE shows. Sandler comes in, bypasses all dues paying, into a major match at Wrestlemania as a new member of the roster. This really is an excellent comparison, and highlights how silly people defending Punk/UFC look. The Punk deal makes sense from a business perspective, since it'll pop a buyrate/get eyeballs on a waning product. It just blows from a competitive/athletic/legitimacy/not getting Punk killed standpoint.

Vince giving interviews where he says Sandler is a friend and said he wanted to try being a wrestler and wanted to give him his dream. Punk has as much experience with fake MMA spots in his matches as Sandler does with fake pro wrestling moves in Waterboy.

I think a pro bowl caliber NFL star retires to pursue the WWE would be an equivalent. Someone on the down end but still would be a good player for a couple of years

But GSP, is someone who can kick major ass. He's succeeded in UFC, so him coming into WWE isn't on the level of Punk going to UFC. There's no question he can compete in pro wrestling, Punk's done nothing to make you think he can compete in UFC. It's like Ronda Rousey, there's no question she could compete in WWE, hell the thing with her is that it wouldn't be believable for any Diva to last more than 30 seconds against her. With that said, I'd say Derek Jeter or A-Rod.

When I think of Punk in UFC, I think of like, all legitimate gatekeeping is said "f*** it" to, because we gotta make some money because did you see those numbers Bellator did? Maybe a better scenario is TNA brings in a wrestling bear on Destination America, beats Raw in the ratings, so Vince brings in the whole goddamn menagerie. OF ANIMALS AND PEOPLE, so yes Krazzy Steve and some giraffes are now part of your Monday night delight.

Someone on the down end but still would be a good player for a couple of years In theory, yes- but we know for a fact that's not the equivalent- Shawne Merriman fits that exact quality of "Pro Bowl caliber NFL player", and apparently he's been training in the Performance Center to become a wrestler (which is why he was on commentary back around Mania 30.) So, we know a Pro Bowler who jumped to the WWE wouldn't be as Internet-breaking as UFC getting Punk.

Rampage Jackson? Huge fan of the product, probably too old to be starting out, Drips natural charisma. You do realize that TNA already did that, do you?

The modern WWF/E is built on publicity stunt matches, they've done it so many times that it's lost all impact so nothing they do will get as much interest as Punk in UFC.

WWE doesn't really have any legitimate clout in either the sports or entertainment industry to cause that kind of buzz outside of a few "haha [PERSON] is going to do wrestling" so the equivalent as I see it is them kidnapping Colt Cabana and Ace Steel

People seem to be posting answers unrelated to the question. You are right in the exact same situation occuring but in terms of the ACTIVE modern UFC roster, it's likely Ronda Rousey although I am not sure even she is right since she's the biggest star (Cain isn't as he's boring and has a tattoo that offends me). I guess maybe it would be Connor McGregor since the dude blows up social media for UFC any time he opens his mouth but hasn't made it to the big time yet (Punk never made it as THE MAN) so it's kinda similar. Not to mention Connor either worked the internet with Sheamus a few weeks ago or they dislike each other.

none of the ufc guys are the potential buy rate jump guy that cm punk is - maybe chuck liddell a couple years ago - maybe randy couture a couple of years ago - GSP - sonnen - silva - any of those guys yeah it would be massive news but they wouldn't spike a buy rate for wwe the punk or lesnar did for ufc
