This is a thing on WWE's YouTube channel.

I think Colt has basically said that after they moved him to FCW from OVW he was pretty much done with WWE.

I always liked Colt Cabana, and thought WWE could have utilized him well, but I'm way past being upset about them deciding not to.

Did anyone in this thread ever see his Scotty Goldman stint?
I saw him make fun of Great Khali before a match, using what I recall was a paperbag hand puppet, and was instantly done with wanting to see him on a televised wrestling show ever again.

Colt works best as an attraction, and probably makes a much better living doing that than he would have as an underneath guy in WWE, so it doesn't bother me one bit. There needs to be more of that in wrestling, honestly. It does a world of good for local promotions.
I'm more annoyed that a ton of ex-wrestlers are getting into the podcast game because they think they can make a few dollars off ad revenue and pump out a terrible podcast. Not all, but more bad than good.

Vince's company, his decision. Vince doesn't owe anybody a living. Harsh but true

He had my favorite line when trying to console Gavin Spears (now Ty Billington or whatever): "Waffles? I love waffles!"
Guys who make others look stupid are no good to The E. On The flip side, Office Colt might have gotten some run...

Matt Classic would have worked well with the Vaudvillians.

There are many TNA,ROH and indy wrestlers I am surprised WWE hasn't hired or least given try-outs, one being Austin Aries.

That goes without saying. But this is a place for discussion and I think the posts like yours are unhealthy. It's basically the horrible "you don't have to watch it" argument that attempts to shut down discussion.

It always came across to me that people's reasoning for hiring Colt Cabana was that he is C.M. Punk's friend and so therefore he must be a great wrestler.

No one gave a shit about the guy ever going back to WWE until Punk started mentioning him in promos in 2011, same to a minor degree with Luke Gallows

What I'm saying is that Colt isn't a victim nor has he been treated badly. WWE higher-ups didn't want him and that's that. I don't see what "thoughts" there are to have beyond that

If they didn't want him, they didn't want him. Don't really care.
...but they DID hire him. He lost a singles match once, lost in some battle royal, then was released. I was thinking "What did you bring him on for to begin with?".
Kinda like what they did with Kizarny. Kizarny appeared and wrestled MVP. He wrestled the exact same way he wrestled in OVW, the exact same way he wrestled in TNA. It wasn't any better or worse than what he always did. What he did was EXACTLY what was expected. Then they released him after that match.

I thought that they've wanted him for years, just as an announcer and Colt wants(ed?) to be a wrestler. I actually wouldn't have minded that as he isn't too bad talking but I am not much of a fan of him, his character or any he does really so WWE not signing him and moving on is perfectly fine by me.

Or his potential as an announcer. Do you also feel there shouldn't be critical discussions about WWE creative? After all, it's what WWE wants to book and that's that.

He's not terrible, but I find most of his stuff vastly uninteresting. Even the Art of Wrestling is mostly mediocre. He reminds me of most internet personalities you aren't familiar with. There's plenty of reviewers, podcast hosts, and comedians who downright have the same basic act you'll see out of 95% of everyone else out there. And as a wrestler, Colt never really stood out the way that Punk did. Even if they made him a commentator, he would fall into the same boat as someone such as Matt Striker or Josh Matthews. Again, nothing against the guy, but he rides the line on middle of the road.
