Brock, and with only three or four total title defenses.

this would only really work with a fighting champ or chicken shit heel champ and at the moment there isn't either option available that would make sense

I know that a lot of people disagrees with me, but I think Punks record was worthless. When he was champion the WWE had two world tiles, I know the World title was being worthless itself but it was still considered a top title in the WWE. Punk also was not the main and top draw. Cena was the man, the Rock was doing part time stuff and Ryback was becoming red hot. He did not do anything with the title to make it seem important because he fought the same people over and over. It got stale very fast. Long title reigns do not make the title seem important. The person holding the title is the one who makes it important. We should not have another long reign again. I think that the WWE gives a wrestler the title only to make them happy. It is not the 80's anymore when the world champion was the top draw, we are at a time that the world champion is someone that they to please.

I don't like long heel title reigns. I think the casual WWE audience is geared differently to the 'wrestling' audience. The WWE crowd has always been, at least since the 80s, more mainstream and mainstream entertainment is about the good guys winning and being on top; Balboa, Bauer, Bond - without leaving the B's. It might be natural instinct to assume the money is in the chase but I really don't think that logic works with the WWE audience. You almost have to do the reverse as to what worked in the territories and the NWA.
WWE is always at its best when it's a face-lead company, punctuate and accentuated by occasional and timely heel transitions.

Adam Rose is ready. All he really needs is a 435+ day title reign to both kick start and solidify his elevation.

I could see it working with Cena if a heel turn was incorporated into it.

I could see it working with Cena if a heel turn was incorporated into it. Possibly, but I'd like to think he wouldn't be as unstoppable anymore when he turns heel. Vince loves unstoppable superhuman faces. But with the exception of Triple H for obvious reasons, when has there ever really been an unstoppable heel in WWE?

If I was made to choose then Bryan is most sensible option, he can work well with almost everybody and using different in-ring styles. He's also capable of sufficiently tweaking his character just enough to stay interesting.
Screw being sensible and doing what's best for business though, I want Bo Dallas to inspire a generation as the greatest champion of all time!

Brock Lesnar. It will only take him 2 more title defenses to get there.

In for a penny, in for a pound. As long as you assume "someone" will break Punk's title reign record, then go further with it and give it to Seth Rollins, the guy who's the most comparable to a CM Punk that plays ball and REALLY do it.

As much as I'd love to see Bryan get that, I think Seth Rollins is the only one capabable of staying truly fresh long enough to carry it for that length of time. We could see a face turn and a second heel turn in that length of time and still have stories to tell.

If he was working a full time schedule he would have lost a lot more by now. And he probably wouldn't of ended Taker's streak either.

No one on the current main roster.
Why? Because there's too many names in the hat for guys to get the title. You have Bryan, The Shield boys, Wyatt and then some other talent who might get the belt. There's way too many people on the main roster to grab a year long reign with their current storylines. When someone gets a year long reign, it has to have a purpose and it has to mean something. You just can't randomly do it. Also look at Punk's reign. The only reason he went a year is because Cena and other big stars were caught up in other storylines, Punk wasn't main eventing and Punk also went from face to heel during that timeframe. How long can that go on?
Only someone in NXT can do that simply because when they move up, the storylines will have advanced enough as an entry point for one of them to grab the title. That's Neville, Zayn, Itami, Baylor and Owens.
I say Zayn and Owens have the best shot at this. Zayn because he's the face fighting champion and fans will latch onto him. They'll love the guy and he can pull it off. Owens only because I can see him being a major heel champion and going face or viceversa keeping his longevity with the title. Besides that? Nope, no one else right now unless they get the title after these NXT guys do.
