They took a couple of the Patriot game balls out of circulation, but virtually all of their game balls were under inflated by ~15%, so that 28-0 run was played with deflated balls as well. So the officials were aware of under inflated footballs but chose to use them instead of pumping them up? If that's the case, shouldn't those officials be held accountable? It's like pulling over someone who is driving a car that was reported stolen, but the police officer simply hands him a speeding ticket and tells the driver to be on his way. Can't you just admit that the Patriots screwed up? That their organization screwed up? Is there no disgust, no shame in them being caught in a clear violation of the rules? There's no defending this, no matter what team, no matter what context. Do the officials deserve to be punished for culpability? Yes. But so does the organization.

I get the argument of "This isn't why they won". I really do. But the fact is, they were caught cheating. Again.

I will also say that no matter what, if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, the people that said that the Patriots cant win the big one without cheating can cram it. Before this they didn't have any ammo. Now they do.

they'll just add the Colts to the game and make it the first ever Triple Threat Super Bowl Ravens and make it a fatal four way. No, the Ravens can still go home and cry like the babies they are.

Before this they didn't have any ammo. Now they do. No, they had the ammo with the Spygate crap. The fact that they will be playing the Super Bowl after being busted, should probably mean they won that game on their own (unless New England decides to do something stupid again).

Even if the NFL takes draft picks from them, I really don't think they care. If they do take draft picks, give em to the Jets. Lord knows they need it No! Please, the Raiders will take them! WE NEED THIS! PLEASE!

We seem to have had a deficit of 1st rd draft picks recently. It's almost like we traded one away for a bottled fart.

I made that admission a few posts back: And yes, I agree that if its determined that the Patriots illegally tampered with the footballs, they should face the penalty laid out for such an offense: a fine of at least $25,000 and possibly a loss of a draft pick. But these people who think the Patriots should vacate their Super Bowl berth or that Bill Belichick should be suspended or fired are just so impossibly misguided. I think that's where a lot of my resentment stems from, dealing with the people who are (pun) blowing this thing way out of proportion, as if something as minuscule and irreverent as 2 psi in a football has had any bearing whatsoever on the game.

And you can have the Colluseum once it gets condemned in like four years.

I apologize if this has been answered but what is the advantage/disadvantage of an under inflated ball?

First, 2 psi represents about 15% of the air in the ball. That is not that miniscule, especially had the game been close. Granted, as I have said before the Colts got demolished anyways, but inflating properly would have meant that each of those 40 rushes would have had higher chances of being fumbled. BTW, for those that are calling for the Patriots to be forced to retroactively forfeit the game (no one here, but I have seen it elsewhere tonight), I don't want it. The Colts played like shit. I would not feel good about my team being put into the SB under these circumstances, especially after how they played. They did not earn it. They were cheated against, but it did not steal the game from them. They pissed it away.

Oh, sorry. I didn't see that. Carry on then. Having the Patriots give up their spot is indeed asinine because the question is a matter of who fills the spot? No team in the entire league would be anything other than a massive charity case. The Belichick thing on the other hand, meh. I don't think the Patriots would look significantly different with him out for a bit, although I do think that he needs to be taken down a peg and taught some deeper respect for the game. If there's anything I've learned from playing RTS games online, it's that a person who is caught breaking the rules more than once does it on a semi-regular basis.

I apologize if this has been answered but what is the advantage/disadvantage of an under inflated ball? It is easier to grip an under-inflated ball. This means both more control when passing the ball and reduced odds of fumbling the ball, which is key when it is slick from rain. It is also a less lively ball. This means that if you are running with the ball and a defender strikes at the ball, it is less likely to try to bounce out of your hand. It is also less likely to bounce off of your hands when you are trying to catch it.

Knowing this team's management strategies, we'll be signing Cam once he's 35 with two bum knees.

it also makes it a lot easier to get through those moving tires at the carnival. Brady needs to forfeit that giant gorilla he won a few weeks ago.

I apologize if this has been answered but what is the advantage/disadvantage of an under inflated ball? The advantage is that it's easier to catch while the disadvantage is that it's harder to throw. It's essentially the football version of baseball's pine tar rule.
