Most Americans don't want to take responsibility for their actions though. This is a country where smokers sue tobacco companies and people sue McDonalds when they burn their tounge on hot coffee. That's true. But, my issue is that the solution to the problem is charging more and recieving less. That's so backwards. I believe they did the same thing with candy bars a while back, where they started making the bars in general a little smaller and King size servings became a little smaller. On top of that they cost a little more than they did a few years ago. This might just be a rumor though, I honestly haven't researched it. Either way, it's messed up about the cans. I noticed it myself when they came out. I'm not a big soda drinker but sometimes I like a little bit with certain foods, for example tacos. I thought the smaller cans would be cool for me but a six pack of them is the same price of a six pace of regular size cans.

Time to start drinking RC Cola folks My family has done that for years. It's a decent switch. Or that stuff I see at the dollar store, I thin it's called Stars and Stripes.

What's strange is the packaging is actually the same size it seems, but the bar is noticeably smaller.

I think the solution to this, rather than paying more for less, is to get a 22 ounce bottle, then have a little self-control when you think you've had too much and put the lid on it for later. Most Americans don't want to take responsibility for their actions though. This is a country where smokers sue tobacco companies and people sue McDonalds when they burn their tounge on hot coffee. Sort of like how Mark Cuban wants people to pay him so try can intern for free?

Very doubtful that these will replace cans in general as the machines will still be set up for the old size. Though it seems it's usually bottles in the machines these days.

It might just be my area, but I haven't seen Pepsi 1 liters in any store in over a year. I asked the Pepsi deliveryman and was told they are still made, just not getting shipped to this area. No idea why.

Nah this was just the guy that drives the Pepsi 18 wheeler and stocks various gas stations.

I've seen these smaller cans for years. I always figured that they were made for parents to pack into kids' school lunches (a "healthier" choices than a full-sized can or bottle).

The store I went to had the smaller cans but no one ever bought them because why pay $5 for a 8 pack of the small cans when you can get 12 bigger cans for less? I just hope they don't get rid of the 12 oz cans for them.

I've noticed that 20 oz bottles are really rising in price. The average I see is around $1.79, which is hideous and does drive me away more often lately.
If they want me to stop drinking it for the most part, they're doing a good job with these realizations...

Man I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks that-- I find regular coke disgusting now. I've been drinking coke zero for years and now drinking the regular stuff just tastes weird to me. Also, I know when I went to the UK, they had smaller coke bottles and cans. --evidently not! Yeah, I feel the same. More of a coke zero or water kinda guy, regular coke feels heavy on my stomach, it's weird.

The idea that you can cause an explosion when mixed with mentos, and the ability to clean metals with Coke are among many reasons I don't drink it, Pepsi, or any other soda regularly.
That and drinking way to much mountain dew during my teenage years turning my intestines into swiss cheese...

That and drinking way to much mountain dew during my teenage years turning my intestines into swiss cheese... The mentos thing is actually on the mentos, and isn't really nefarious or anything. The pocked surface of the mentos provides a nucleation point for the carbonation of the soda and basically makes it go nuts and make a huge mess. It's physics rather than chemistry, from what I recall, and is harmless unless you're a dope and do both at once, which could choke you from breathing it in or something and getting coke in your lungs. That said, it isn't like drinking a bunch of soda is good for you. f***ton of sugar if nothing else, not to mention empty calories.

The Mentos effect is from any carbonated beverage, though it works the best with Diet Coke/Pepsi for whatever reason. You can clean metals with anything containing carbonic acid, which pretty much is anything carbonated.

I do enjoy a nice Henry Weinhard's Black Cherry Cream soda every once in a while though.
