Super Mario Bros. 2. I rage quit the first game after getting stuck on 8-4 for a month straight, and blew through the second game in about a week.

I can't remember but it was possibly something on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
People complained about loading times when we switched from cartridges to CDs, but they've got nothing on waiting for a game to load from a tape.

Something on the 2600; probably ET or Superman.

My first games machine was a Commodore VIC-20, and it wasn't uncommon for me to wait 20 minutes for the damn thing to fail to load a game.

Asterix for the NES. I like to think I'm the only person who can say that as the game never made it outside Europe where the NES wasn't as popular as it was elsewhere, plus most people would complete other games first. However I expect some Asterix obsessed French kid bought a NES just so he could complete it.
Btw it's pretty good and if you happen to be a fan of 8-bit game music it has one of the best soundtracks on the console.

Ninja Gaiden Seriously, that was the first one. Given the last level, that is quite impressive.

POSSIBLE SEIZURE WARNING (seriously, I don't know how I survived my childhood) At this point it's been 25 years since I last played on a VIC-20, so the details have faded from my memory, and all I remember is the damn loading times. I can remember waking up at 7am on schooldays just so I could play 15-20 minutes of whatever game I was into at the time before I left for school at 8:30. That's how unreliable at loading the thing was. It wasn't until I had my tonsils and adenoids removed in 1991 and my grandfather bought me a Nintendo magazine to read while I was in hospital that I realised the NES existed, and decided that the VIC-20 just wasn't going to suffice any longer. Still had to wait four months for my birthday to come around though.

Sonic the Hedgehog I think. I played a lot of NES, but I can't remember beating any. I watched my older brother beat several Mega Man games, but I don't think I ever beat one. I may have beaten the original Mario Bros at the time I forget.

Super Mario World. SNES was the first console so naturally me & my brother spent Christmas '91 beating SMW. Good times.
