Orton/Christian belongs nowhere on this. Their feud was superb. The matches were good, but the feud was complete trash. For months on end at every single turn the story was that Orton was better than him in every way imaginable, and that's after Christian was turned heel for absolutely no reason beyond that having been the plan beforehand and them refusing to change it. The feud was for the purpose of getting Orton over as a face. He wanted Christian as his opponent. It was never about Christian. We all know Vince doesn't like him and yet his one world title feud he knocked out of the park. I loved that whole feud.

Orton/Christian belongs nowhere on this. Their feud was superb. Neither does the Ryder image. That entire storyline was hilarious and I loved every week of it. Yes it does. Ryder was absolutely obliterated because of it and hasn't recovered 3 years later.

I thought Bryan would be 30 at that point. I thought it was stupid to send out Mysterio... I didn't boo him because it's not like he made the call... found it funny that he was getting booed though. I knew Batista was going to win when it came down to Reigns and Batista... Reigns sure as hell wasn't ready last year for a main event push... I figured they'd do something because Orton vs. Batista would bomb hard and Bryan would get in to the main event somehow anyway... I still agree with a lot of other people that if they were determined not to put Bryan in the Rumble, they should have swapped entry numbers between Mysterio and Del Rio. Mysterio would have been protected as a babyface, and Alberto as a heel would have actually benefit from that nuclear heat.

Rey coming out and being booed out of the building was one of the highlights of 2014 for me.

That reminds me, this hasn't been posted in a while: Orton/Christian belongs nowhere on this. Their feud was superb. The matches were superb. The actual feud, not so much.

I never understood why people thought Bryan would be in the Rumble in the first place. He was never advertised for it and was only mentioned for the Wyatt match. At the time I didn't really care that much since I figured Batista/Orton had ZERO shot of ever being a WM main event. Because the WWE lately never really held anyone out of the Royal Rumble because they were in a match earlier. Also because it didn't make any damn sense to not have Daniel Bryan in the Rumble match.

Orton was already one of the most over guys in the company, he didn't need a pretty one-sided feud(or another world title reign) to get over as a face.

Orton was already one of the most over guys in the company, he didn't need a pretty one-sided feud(or another world title reign) to get over as a face. Because that's what you do with your top star - keep him strong. He chose Christian. Christian was simply his opponent for the world title and Christian just happened to be awesome at it. Vince doesn't want Christian as a world title-level guy so the feud was never going to be to make him. But he got amazing matches out of it. We'll all have to disagree on this. I love that feud.

I was thoroughly shocked that he wasn't in the Rumble, certainly after he'd lost the match with Bray Wyatt earlier that evening. I then became really interested in the Rumble, but that was due to the crowd absolutely shitting on everything once they realized Bryan wasn't going to be in/win the match.
It's going to happen again this year if they're dumb enough to let Roman Reigns win, so this may be a yearly thread.

When #30 was about to be called, I was hoping so badly that it was Bryan. When Rey came out, I put the volume up since I knew exactly what was about to happen, and wanted to hear the crowd share how I felt.

I like the thread idea so here we go.
1. I was hopeful it was going to be Daniel Bryan.
2. As soon as Rey came out, I was booing but I still had hope as Punk was still in the rumble at that time, I believe.
3. Once it came down to Reigns and Batista, I gave up and logged onto here to see the reactions.

Tired of this expression especially when it did work out in the case of the Yes Movement & Wrestlemania XXX It worked out in spite of WWE's plans, not because of them. I'm sorry. I missed the part where a new governing body swung into power in January & forced them to change. Wait that didn't happen. WWE creative rightly changed their mind and direction to give the people what they wanted. Which they have always done throughout wrestling history. So again you are so so wrong.

That was one of the greatest threads to read of all time.
I'm not upset at my decision to take a sabbatical from Summerslam until Wrestlemania...they really had contempt for their audience with the bullshit they were pulling.
WWE is also like studying a test subject anymore, where it's more entertaining at how pissed off they make their fanbase than the actual product.

I was in the Rumble thread that night, and we figured out after JBL had entered that Bryan couldn't be in the match.
I had figured that if Bryan wasn't in, that the reaction to it would be glorious, at least on the Internet. I didn't think the entire arena would revolt like that, though.
