So, with the Rumble coming up, I decided to do one retrospective thread. The Daniel Bryan incident.
The question is very simple: You are watching the event live, Number 29 Big E Langston just came out
I want you to split this up if you will into 3 reactions
Your reaction as Number 30 approached. Were you still hopeful or did the wave of dread hit you?
Your reaction to Rey Mysterio coming out. Were you booing him as well? Were you enjoying the idea of Mysterio being bood?
Finally, your reaction as we got Roman Reigns vs. Batista. Were you cheering for Reigns, were you done by the final two because you didn't care about either party, or perhaps you already knew Batista was booked to win.
To steal from a fellow poster, GO FOR IT IN THE COMMENTS

I never understood why people thought Bryan would be in the Rumble in the first place. He was never advertised for it and was only mentioned for the Wyatt match. At the time I didn't really care that much since I figured Batista/Orton had ZERO shot of ever being a WM main event.

I thought Bryan would be 30 at that point.
I thought it was stupid to send out Mysterio... I didn't boo him because it's not like he made the call... found it funny that he was getting booed though.
I knew Batista was going to win when it came down to Reigns and Batista... Reigns sure as hell wasn't ready last year for a main event push...
I figured they'd do something because Orton vs. Batista would bomb hard and Bryan would get in to the main event somehow anyway...

Disappointed when Mysterio came out (not angry, but face-palming). Zero sympathy for the booing. I knew Rey wouldn't win, but I was hoping for an audible and they let Reigns win since we already knew Dave had a) won a Rumble already and b) was a part-timer. DAVE WIN. meh.

Honestly, it was a huge disappointment. Bryan as 30 might have got the biggest pop ever.

I was there live for it, and it was abundantly clear late in the match that things were gonna go bad if Bryan didn't come out. When he didn't, I wasn't booing or angry or anything. It was just so amusing and hilarious to watch the whole building turn.

I knew 30'd be Mysterio since he was in that pre-match interviews video. As a result while I was disappointed and kind of pissed I had a lot of fun basking in that crowd reaction.

I remember watching with my brothers in universal agreement that Bryan was 30. A very loud "OH f*** OFF" came shortly after.

I wonder what Vince's reaction was.
I like to think he did that thing he did when Flair was announced as part owner.

After it got late in the Rumble, I knew he wasn't going to be in it. But my two main reactions were:
1. There's no way this company can be this stupid.
2. It's gotta be someone like Barrett at 30, right?
I don't know who decided Mysterio was entering at 30, but that person is an idiot. The crowd had already displayed their disdain earlier in the night, call an audible and either put Bryan in or give 30 to a heel.

I never understood why people thought Bryan would be in the Rumble in the first place. This. I wasn't expecting him at all so the Rumble match was just amusing to me. Relentless boos from #30 and the cheers for Rey being eliminated. Rey is booed for simply not being Daniel Bryan.

I was honestly begging for Reigns to win when it got down to him and Batista.

It took me about 10 seconds after Big E came out to know that #30 was Rey and I got really bummed out about it. After that I thought "If not Bryan then might as well be Roman" and we almost got that. I was mad after Batista won it and was happy that the arena was not having it. I really feel bad for Rey getting the boos that he did. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Hey guys, let's just wait and see That reminds me, this hasn't been posted in a while: Orton/Christian belongs nowhere on this. Their feud was superb.

That reminds me, this hasn't been posted in a while: Orton/Christian belongs nowhere on this. Their feud was superb. Neither does the Ryder image. That entire storyline was hilarious and I loved every week of it.

That reminds me, this hasn't been posted in a while: Orton/Christian belongs nowhere on this. Their feud was superb. The matches were good, but the feud was complete trash. For months on end at every single turn the story was that Orton was better than him in every way imaginable, and that's after Christian was turned heel for absolutely no reason beyond that having been the plan beforehand and them refusing to change it. And they had shit like bringing in Edge to tell Christian he was being a whiny bitch for no other reason than to remind people they were supposed to be booing him. I still say the way to have done it would've been to have Christian be about to lose the title on SmackDown only for Sheamus to interrupt it, leading to a triple threat at Over the Limit with Christian squeaking out with the win. Him and Orton have a rematch at Capitol Punishment where Orton wins the title, then Christian does the respect thing to a point but at Money in the Bank turns heel to steal the title back and you do the feud the way it went from there. Gives Christian something of an actual reign and makes him look much less pathetic.

Yeah, Kaneryder was great and hilarious as hell. The problem was that their burning feud somehow culminated in a....battle royale match. THE TRUE DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND

Slow motion car crash.
I saw it playing out, knew it would be a mess, couldn't believe they were actually going through with something so clearly (not in hindsight either) a bad idea. All I could do was shake my head in bewilderment.
I think people were expecting a "surprise entrant" which isn't unprecendented, but really I saw it more as just seeing visual proof that WWE clearly had no clue what its own fan base wanted AND thinking they were doing god's work.
