I'm not asking why, I'm making the point that patriots fans, you included, have been claiming that Colts are saying the only reason they lost is cause they patriots cheated, when, from what I've seen, that isn't true. Here and elsewhere all I've read is everybody else, Colts fans included, saying the Patriots would've won either, not that they only won cause they cheated. I didn't say that the Colts were saying the reason the Patriots won were because of the deflated balls. I'm disputing the notion circulating on Twitter (and in some capacity, in this Forum) that underinflated footballs had anything whatsoever to do with the result of Sunday night's game. My exact words: Basically, allow Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner to sum it up: So what I'm gathering from all this is non patriot fans are saying the deflated balls had zero influence on the outcome of the game and are just talking about the fact that it appears that the Pats got caught stepping over the line....again..., and Patriots fans and players, including the guy keeping the yellow fabric dye industry in business quoted above, are caught up on just how it related to that game. Let me speak on behalf of all non tin foil hat wearing, government listening device hidden in cheese believing NFL fans everywhere. We know the under inflated balls had nothing to do with the outcome of the AFC Championship game on Sunday. I haven't seen one person on this board even remotely hint at that fact. What people are trying to figure out is...why. What's kind of comical is the attempts at deflection (again see Mr. Browner's tweet) when they aren't even necessary. No one is debating the outcome of the game. Hell it's kind of funny at this point. If they lose the super bowl it'll be "lol they can't win without cheating". If they win it will just be "wouldn't have gotten there without cheating". This entire season has just been one huge asterisk. Why shouldn't this be the perfect way to end it.

I still can't wrap my mind around why anyone is even mad at the Pats. Leaving teams in charge of the balls is like letting a boxer inspect his own gloves. If a competitive advantage can be gained teams(not just the Patriots)are going to try to get it and the NFL should have safeguards in place to stop something that should've so easily been taken care of during the game.

No, it's still the Patriots fault. But the NFL could have done something at halftime like tell the coaches they were caught (this is coming out still) and if you do not inflate your balls properly the next half, you are forfeiting the game. They didn't and enabled this situation to continue.

No, it's the NFL's fault that they trust ANY team not to tamper with game balls when there's such an easy way to prevent it from happening i.e. Leaving the balls in possession of an NFL official on the sideline as the game is ongoing. Even allowing teams the opportunity to tamper with game equipment is just moronic.

Instead of the chest-puffing bravado you've all been dealing with today, allow me to get really real with you about this latest scandal. To be brutally honest, my honest initial reactions when the news broke late Tuesday night were two-fold: anger and fear.
The anger stemmed from the fact that yet again, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are giving enemies and opponents ammunition to discredit their achievements. The fact that this issue is being brought up infuriates me, because it allows people, whether they are the fringe lunatics or John Q. Public, to question everything. And that pisses me off. This team went 12-4, won the AFC East championship, battled back from 14-0 and 28-14 deficits against Baltimore, and mauled Indianapolis based on their own merits, not some underhanded chicanery, yet if you allow even a hint of impropriety to come to light, that's all it takes for people to question everything. And that sucks.
The fear stemmed from the fact that I don't know what kind of punishment is going to be handed down to the Patriots. No word of a lie, I stayed up until almost 2 a.m. this morning, my mind running wild with questions. "There's no way they can vacate the AFC Championship, right?" or "They won't make them go back and replay the Indianapolis game, right?". Hell, I scoured Twitter for hours looking for one voice, one source who would basically say, "No, the NFL will not go to those extremes, calm down and go to f***ing sleep." And when I woke up, it's again all I can think about. I'm looking at the Patriots' itinerary for the next few days going into next week, thinking, "Well, if they fly to Arizona on Monday morning, that means the latest they can realistically vacate this conference championship is this weekend."
In all honesty, the league will likely strip them of a draft pick and hit them with a hefty fine. But the fact that I have to spend days and hours allowing those previous thoughts to enter my mind really dampens the high spirits I had following Sunday night's victory. And then I go back to anger at the franchise for allowing this to happen, and it really sours my mood.
Maybe it's the fact that as a Patriots fan, I've had to be on the defensive about the team I support for the better part of the last eight years, because the team is the target of vitriol for 31 other fanbases. So that's where a lot of the arrogance and peacock feathers from Tuesday and today come from. But in all actuality, I guess I'm just a sheep in wolf's clothing, scared because his favorite team f***ed up again and angry that he has to deal with this bulls*** again.

I'd have to imagine that the protocol will be changed following this, the Rodgers comments and the Vikings shenaningans from this year.

All they did was hit the reset button on the "Beli-cheat" and "Cheatriots" vitriol that all NFL fans will have to listen to going forward. Nice job guys. Win or lose to say it's not going to happen would just be false. #Cryptorchidismgate

Gave this a like and quote just because it's refreshing to just get an honest reaction from a diehard Pats fan on this whole thing without the whole "yeah, but" arguments. Sucks you gotta go through this, unfortunately it is what it is.

I always want a good Super Bowl, but I wouldn't mind seeing Seattle kick Tom Brady's ass. Then we'll have two years in a row where the NFL's golden boys are brought down a few pegs. I will love it.

To get off the whole deflated ball thing for a min.....
Haven't had a chance with moving my family 7 hours to the sticks and waiting forever for an internet hookup (over a month to install), how excited I was when I heard that John "wish I could punt on 3rd and greater than 7 so I'd never have to pass the ball" Fox got shown the door. Unfortunately got so excited I jumped up which caused my knee to hit my laptop and send it flying across the room. Finally got a replacement yesterday for it.
That being said, I'm cautiously optimistic with Kubiak as HC. IF (and that's a big if) Peyton comes back, hopefully Kubiak is capable of going to a plan B when it comes to playcalling, cause lets face it, I don't see PM doing lots of naked bootlegs off play action. Kind of in a wait and see till he makes up his mind about next season, I am excited about Dennison as OC though. Get the Thomases re signed, upgrade the RT position and see how Sanders can handle the slot (if Latimer shows he's ready to go outside). Long off season though.
That being said this should be a good super bowl. Unfortunately the next 2 weeks are going to be unbearable for reasons I talked about earlier so I might just avoid anything NFL for a while. Wish the NHL wasn't on it's damn All Star break......
