For the first time since last year's Austrian Grand Prix, a driver that isn't Hamilton or Rosberg takes the pole position for a Formula 1 race. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel takes it in Singapore.
Incredibly, the best that the Mercedes drivers could do was 5th and 6th, behind both Ferraris and both Red Bulls. Might make for an interesting race tomorrow...

It definitely has potential to be a decent race, unless the front couple of rows screw up their starts and Hamilton immediately jumps them before disappearing into the distance. There's a good chance of a safety car as well, to keep things bunched up a bit.

I enjoyed that race; some entertaining racing, a guy walking on the track, good result for Ferrari and a great drive from Verstappen although the team won't be happy with him for his refusal to move over at the end.

Hamlin wins the first playoff race. And IndyCar is coming to RoadAmerica next June. I. AM. f***ING. HYPED. Speaking of Road America, IndyCar held some testing at the track today. Apparently the place was pretty packed for a testing session. The car themselves were pretty much matching the DP 01's lap times from when Champ Car was last there in 2007. I'm f***ing pumped to see those cars in an actual race on that track. Next to Indy and Long Beach, it's one of my favorite tracks because it was one of my favorites in the CART/Champ Car days. |

Beautiful scenery, awesome (albeit expensive) food, and a very challenging track. It's well worth the trip and the IndyCar race will be well worth the wait. |

It's back to normal at the front of the grid for the Japan GP with an all Merc front row. Rosberg was on pole after the first runs in the final qualifying session, Kvyat crashed which basically ended the session early and prevented Hamilton (amongst others) having another run.
