Yeah, I always find myself gravitating towards that late '90s era of paint schemes for being collectively awesome. Hell, I've had a pileup of 1998 cars in NASCAR Racing 2003 Season as my Twitter header almost as long as I've had the account.

Today, history was made again. Last year, Erica Enders-Stevens made history, becoming the first female Pro Stock World Champion. This year, Erica became the second woman to win back-to-back World Championships, only to Angelle Sampey. She also became the first back-to-back World Champion in Pro Stock since Jeg Coughlin Jr. in 2007-2008. She has become the dominant force in Pro Stock, and the Driver to beat, so to speak.

I remember when Gordon first started. Many fans, including myself, didn't like him, seeing him as some pretty boy coming in to a sport of roughnecks, including the Intimidator. But many forget that Dale Sr. liked and respected Jeff. And when he'd win, there'd be boos from the fans. Now, it's almost come to a complete 180. The fans want to see the last of the old guard leave with a championship. And I'm right there with them.Let's go get No. 5 for you, Jeff!! Guess it just goes to show as soon as you start wrecking people on purpose, costing people championships, and start throwing fists at people, you're a fan favorite in fan's eyes. Case in point to yesterday...

There was also Kyle Busch in the truck series one year. I remember people celebrating when it was announced that he was getting parked that whole weekend.

Matt Kenseth has been suspended for 2 races.
Danica Patrick was also docked 25 driver points and fined 50 Grand for her actions at Martinsville as well.
And quite frankly, it wasn't enough. Should have just gave Kenseth the whole 3 races and been done with any more crap that may go down at Homestead.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't suspend him for the whole 3.
If I recall, Kyle Busch flagrantly wrecking Ron Hornaday was also in the last 2 or 3 races of the truck season that year, and they suspended him the entire rest of it.
When you think about it, there's very little incentive for drivers to hold back from any sort of retaliation this close to the end of the season, yet I'm really not sure how you'd penalize that short of having the penalties extend into the next year (which I think was threatened on one of the Busch boys at least once).

Kenseth will appeal the suspension. Yeah, good luck with that.

So, Logano intentionally wrecks Kenseth at Kansas: Nothing.
Harvick intentionally wrecks Bayne at Talladega, artifically altering the results of said end of race: Nothing.
Danica wrecks Gilliland at Martinsville in retaliation: Slap on the wrist.
Kenseth wrecks Logano: 2 race suspension.
NASCAR has no control over this trainwreck anymore. They're just making things up as they go.

I feel like pretty much every major motorsport sanctioning body other than the WEC really need a shakeup at the leadership level. NASCAR for the reasons you've just stated, for basically blindly pursuing the Chase That Nobody Likes, inconsistency in rulings, and basically doing absolutely nothing to stop the "LOL NASCRAP = WWF" crowd.
Indycar for... a multitude of reasons, aside from a seeming complete lack of self-awareness and prestige class in shooting one's self in the foot, and F1... I shouldn't really have to explain, but it's adequately summed up with "The European Grand Prix of Azerbaijan".

They're just making things up as they go. I'm tired of people comparing these other cases to Kenseth's. Just stop. Kenseth T-Bone plowed a car into the wall as fast as he possibly could go, it was as dangerous and reckless as it was stupid. Then to top it off, then bald face lies about it afterwards acting like we're all a bunch of idiots. Kenseth got what he deserved. I'm also sick of people using the "Inconsistency in the Rules" excuse why people are pissed. Like I'm seriously going to believe if the drivers' roles were reversed that fans would be outraged if Logano got suspended doing the same thing. I'll call a big plate of bullshit on that. Fans would be saying the rich little ass got what he deserved and they'd be celebrating until sunrise. Fans are like NASCAR, they don't have any consistency either.

So because I'm too cheap to spring for NBCSN, I didn't see the NASCAR race (I did, however, watch the F1 race intermittently with the Giants/Saints game). I'm torn on this one, because I have equal dislike for Logano and Kenseth. I get why Kenseth was mad, but that was a bitch move. If he's racing for position and does that, its still stupid, but has at least a little merit, I think.
NASCAR fans piss me off, too. My dad has a habit of commenting on NASCAR's Facebook posts, mostly trolling the idiots and Joonyer Nashun morons that think because he's the old man's son and he has an accent, that he's any different than Logano, Kenseth, and any other non-accent having driver. I'm a Junior fan, but smart enough to know better.
Does anyone know if someone has computed what the points would be under the pre-chase format if the races had gone exactly the way they did? I'm curious and almost want to do it myself. I know under different points circumstances drivers would race differently, but it would be an interesting study.

I know Jayski has done it for a while and it should be on his site somewhere. Interestingly, although I'm too lazy to go check right now, I think most of the simulated results were close or equal to what wound up actually happening.
Right now pretty much all motorsports fans are pissing me off again, though that's to be expected.

Kenseth's appeal has been denied.
2 Race Suspension stands.

I'm not around much anymore, but I think, prior to me getting caught up in this real life adulting crap, my distaste for the Princess was well documented. This makes me IMMENSELY happy. EDIT: Glad to see that Joonyer Nayshun is still being bandied...I'd forgotten that particular moment of cynicism and creativity. Heh.

Johnson prevents anyone else from locking in a spot by winning in Texas. And early tire problems makes it a win-or-go-home situation for Logano next week.
