Looks like Rodney isn't quite as in control as he thought. A bit sad to see Joaquin go, though. He was a damn good narrator-type character. EDIT: Spider2024, to my knowledge, the only idol in play is the one Carolyn has, though I might have missed something.

By the way, who has idols? I've missed chunks of this season. Carolyn & Jenn IIRC

I liked Joaquin. Damn toolbox Rodney did him in. Anyway. I think the path is set for the no collars and Carolyn to ride the wave into the final 5. They will get Joe and Tyler to join them and have the idols, and perhaps Rodney goes with them. Shirin is a wild card. Does she go with the blue collars or perhaps rides the goat wave with the others?

The way Probst hyped this season up I don't think one side dominates at all even if the No Collars are getting really the kind of content you excpect from the winner. I am guessing we could see multiple votes where the majority gets upended either due to idols or vote splitting. It's hard to say what will happen cause no one left has been outright invisible enough that if they become a focus of the episode your like "uh oh who is this new person guess they are going" which has happened a lot with uneven editing of players in recent seasons.

Right now I expect either Jenn or Hali to win the game but Probst has hyped the season way too much to include an obvious winner's edit. But then again Natalie was pretty anonymous until the homestretch of San Juan del Sur and that was a pretty subpar season

The editing has improved greatly from Blood vs. Water onwards. Maybe production finally woke up after the incredibly uneven editing of Caramoan, which proved severely detrimental to the storytelling and overall enjoyment of that season. We got plenty of Phillip (barf) but, like, what even is a Hope Driskill?

Super late to the party, but I loved this episode. I've been REALLY underestimating Mike. But before I get into it, here's my review, to anyone who's up for reading any more analysis (no harm, no foul, if not!): www.rickey.org/survivor-worlds-apart-review-bad-blood-is-exploited-in-the-intense-odd-woman-out/278499/Basically, this was one of the few times in Survivor history where throwing a challenge wasn't actually a bad idea. Mike is savvy enough to understand that, as the only Blue Collar on that tribe, Kelly is likely an odd woman out, and could be on the chopping block if Nagarote finds itself back at tribal council. So the plan to throw the challenge allows Mike to get Kelly to the merge, at which point they can reunite with one another, while hopefully retaining the numbers by eliminating one of the No Collars (Joe) or White Collars (Tyler, Joaquin). It’s a genius move, since we could now see a whopping FIVE Blue Collars make it to the merge, which immediately puts them in a potential power position if Rodney can get over himself long enough to see the wisdom in what Mike was doing. Then, after throwing the challenge, Mike is able to mitigate the damage Dan caused in the relationship with Sierra (damage which he continues to cause with the whole "shut your mouth and open your ears" crap during the pre-tribal council pitch) by getting her to vote with them. He also prevented Joe from going over to the rival alliance by revealing that Rodney was planning to vote him out. Naturally, had Joe gone to Rodney with this information, I imagine Rodney would have exposed that Mike threw the challenge. But because Rodney and his group made no attempt to align with Joe, assuming that they had the numbers with Mike and Sierra on their side, he never gave Rodney the chance for a rebuttal. In this way, Mike essentially exploits the bad blood that's existing all over the place, not only keeping Joe from wandering, but also keeping Sierra from flipping by rationalizing that, for as bad as Dan is, Rodney is demonstrably worse. Just great stuff from Mike, and I was really impressed.

HOLY CRAP A BLINDSIDE I DID NOT SEE COMING
Has throwing a challenge ever really worked in the long run?

HOLY CRAP A BLINDSIDE I DID NOT SEE COMING Has throwing a challenge ever really worked in the long run? eh, in the past tribes usually threw challenges to get rid of people they didn't like and not much strategy like Mike Displayed last night. And they usually don't have major beneficial long lasting implications. Like in Redemption Island, the Zapatera tribe voted out the infamous Russell Hantz because they didn't want him around and they had numbers at that early point in the game. But after that, The Omeptepe tribe kept the momentum and pretty much dominated the rest of the game.

I LOVED the reaction by Capt. Douchenozzle when Joaquin was voted off. Genuine laugh out loud moment. These smug f***ers...

Holy hell, I've never been so satisfied to see an idol played before. But seeing Mike AND Rodney get owned was a thing of beauty. And Shirin continued to be my favorite part of the season when she offered to pee on Dan's foot. ...yes, I have problems, but I'm accepting of them, so that makes it OK. I think.

meh episode. Not so sure I'd side with the blue collars if I was Carolyn or Tyler. Don't know what Will was thinking either. Should be an interesting post merge game though
