Huh. Sony used to not allow early access games, wonder when that changed. As for Palworld, I'd wait on that. See how the lawsuit goes. Really do like the idea of being able to build a base, though. Wish they didn't change it. I blew money on Path of Titans not realising. Apparently, from what I can tell the base building isn't incorporated into Palworld yet. It sounds an interesting idea, but the apparent lack of a story puts me off a lot.

Decided to order Robocop since it is on sale and looks fun.
Was hoping 2K24 would be fun, but it's garbage.

Finished the Metaphor demo. Basically it's a Persona game in a fantasy setting only with a job system instead of demon summoning/negotiations. If you've played any Shin Megami Tensei games, Metaphor uses the press turn system in its battles. Dungeon exploration and time management/social stuff is straight out of Persona. Job system is really neat though.

Just added so much to the game and I am disappointed more games don't implement something similar--Hogwarts Legacy was crying out for something like that, given the importance of friendships and bonds in the book series. I will check this out, thanks for mentioning it. It is a game that would definitely have slipped under my radar.

I just saw Palworld is on PS Store. That flew under the radar, I thought that was XBox Exclusive. Is it any good? I know it is meant to be like Pokemon, but an "edgy" version where the Pokemon carry guns. Which I admit sounds stupid and puts me off. Edit: Just saw it's "early access" so... f*** that. I bought Path of Titan early access and it is absolute gash. I love dinosaurs, a dinosaur RPG sounded fun but the world has nothing to do. Not even any herbivores to hunt. Early access games shouldn't be allowed up on PS Store. Or, at the very least, should have a massive disclaimer saying the game is early access and isn't complete. Huh. Sony used to not allow early access games, wonder when that changed. As for Palworld, I'd wait on that. See how the lawsuit goes. Really do like the idea of being able to build a base, though. fortnite making a metric shit tonne of money every week despite being "early access" for like 6 years probably helped change sony's mind on early access games.

I remmeber it seeming like a complete game from the get go, they just added to it. Unlike Path of Titans, which is clearly nowhere near ready and is barely even playable.

I dunno what it is but I just find myself, like, aggressively disinterested in Metaphor personally. Maybe it's just since I'm still struggling to care enough to play Reload but it's just kind of not on my radar at all.
Granted I think I'm also just way less interested in the setting than I am when it comes to Persona.

It does take a bit for the game to actually get started but if you've played Persona you should be used to that lol.

I seem to remember the first stage of P5 being an absolute bitch with saving--like 2 hours of gameplay before you can save at one part

How do you download the demo for Metaphor? I cant find it on PS Store. Searching just brings up the standard preorder

How do you download the demo for Metaphor? I cant find it on PS Store. Searching just brings up the standard preorder On the PSN store page, if you click on the three dots it should list "Demo" on the menu under the Atlus 35th anniversary edition. If it's not there, maybe the demo isn't available in your region.

The demo is longer than I thought. I beat the boss at the first tower and thought "Ok, this is likely the end, but it continued after"
It seems quite good. Possible a game I may get on Day 1 to be honest. I like the characters so far, and the option of just slashing through easy enemies without entering a battle is a good time saver.
On the downside, the dungeon maps so far seem very linear.

Metaphor demo was quite good but meh, Atlus JRPGs are kind of in that "if you've played one you've played them all" territory for me. Feels very samey at this point.
I might buy it if it's ever dirt cheap.

I don't buy any games at launch anymore because $70 is too much for me to spend on a single game. I'll definitely get Metaphor when it's on sale.
I'm also glad that there's no romance in this game and Hoshino apparently didn't put any of his... ickyness towards women and queer people like was in his Persona games and especially Catherine.

Full game of Metaphor is very solid.
My big downside is, so far at least, the non-damaging abilities you get are pretty useless. It's all "protect from xxx type of damage" or "draw all enemy attacks" but so far, it is all for one turn. Which renders them pretty pointless. The defence ones are banking on the opponent targeting the protected character, and the "taunt" one because its only one turn means you cant combine it with the protective ability anyway as a tactic.
So the best tactic is just brute strength your way through and occasionally heal.
There are a couple which are like "boost your attack power for 3 turns" but, the standard attacks with that I have found are weaker than your ability attacks anyway, so you might as well just go full force.

Another downside with Metaphor--mornings not being free. That is annoying, having the morning available for activities would help a lot in getting things done. Persona had the same issue until you unlocked the ability to go out at night. I am hoping eventually you can unlock mornings too for more activities.
