Fight was fine until the first rounds, after the 6th round it turned boring, with Floyd mostly being on the defensive and Pacman getting tired.
I really thought Pacman had it in the 5th.

What came were two technical fighters trying pick and choose spots, with the winner being the predictable choice due to a 5 inch reach advantage and an ability to capitalize on mistakes. Technical boxing isn't exciting, it's a chess match. If you don't really appreciate that side of it, it won't be a sport that you enjoy. Exactly it boggles my mind that people actually expected this to be some big brawl or something. I can sort of understand it froma casual perspective (and by no means am I a huge boxing fan). Beyond the Rocky movies, what was the last money matchup as hyped as this one? Probably Tyson-Holyfield (I guess you had the De La Hoya fights between each guy, but I don't think they were as culturally ubiquitous). In that fight, you had a brawler vs. a technical fighter. The brawler came out swinging, and stunned the technical fighter. The technical fighter adjusted, and you got a display of frustration as a guy who was just used to hurting people lost his ability to do so as the slower fighter was actually the stronger one. Then in the rematch, he bit his f***ing ear off. I think people were waiting for at least that one big moment where someone went and attacked, and it didn't happen because both guys are pretty technical and tend to go for KO's when they know they can finish it. Mayweather's defense was too good for anything Pacquiao can put out there anymore, and Pacquiao backed off a little because of it.

We've all been raised on Rocky movies. Boxing ain't nothing like that or guys would be brain dead after like three fights. That's why if you're not a boxing regular it seems 'boring'.

If this was 5 years ago when they needed a stamp on their legacies then sure it would of been a little more thrilling but same result. When both guys are banking over 100 million each you think they going to brain dead each other, no way. This was a Floyd fight from the beginning till end.

It also helped that Holyfield repeatedly headbutted Tyson throughout the fight. I didn't watch the Pac/Mayweather fight, but I'm looking at results and from the results Mayweather threw more and landed more. That's how you win fights. This is real life and it's not Rocky which I think too many people have gotten confused for.

All that flurry and no clean shots. Pacman knew not to tire himself out or he would of got picked apart.

I point you to Pacquiao vs Marquez 4, That fight has great action and a thrilling finish, No one is asking boxers to make every fight like that but when you're charging 100$ for a ppv the very least you can do is try not clinching and putting the other guy in a headlock for 12 rounds.

Well yeah, there are definitely some awesome exceptions. From what I have seen, you get closer to the Rocky Esq clobbering the bigger the guys are. What we saw last night was the ones at or just below 150 range. The Ali v Forman type fights were alot closer to the Rocky exciting brawls. Part of it honestly style of the fighters.

I know this is going to come off like sour grapes, but I simply can't help that.
Floyd should have fought Manny five years ago.
Instead, just like the Mosley fight, there's an underlying current of catching potentially dangerous opponents on the downhill slant of their careers.

Only people who have never watched a match until last night are at all surprised by Mayweather being "boring." What surprised me more than anything was how long it took Manny to do anything and how too little, too late it was.

As someone who is not into boxing, Mayweather's fighting style of flying like a butterfly and stinging like a Metapod is hilarious to me. Can't blame him for doing whatever it takes to win.

It reminded me of the boxing match from Sgt Bilko "It wasn't a boxing match,it was a dance recital..." (bad movie but fun, loved it) Another joke I've heard is that Floyd's audition tape for "Dancing With The Stars" is now finished.

If people don't like they way he conducts his business than somebody needs to finally beat him to take away his leveraging power.
