I'd have picked Mayweather back then too. On another note, Lomachenko looked really, really good last night. Lomachenko looked great again! I also think it's a bit funny that people suggest that Floyd fighting Manny '5-7 years too late' or 'waiting until Manny was passed his prime' would have changed the outcome at all. Does Floyd, the older man, not get a day older every 24 hours like Pac-man and the rest of us? Well when you haven't tested yourself in an actual competition, you don't age as much in boxing years.

Maybe Floyd just really digs Bayley's style. He's a hugger.

so was it really that boring? I didn't find it boring. There was just a a lot of tension that never got released. But there was always the feeling that it could any second, at least until the last 3 rounds or so.

so was it really that boring? No. It was what it was. There were a ton of very casual boxing fans who thought it was going to be the end of a Rocky movie.

Sounds like this fight really could have benefited from a run in by Hurricane Peter McNeeley.

Fighters react to Floyd's decision win over Manny Jerome-Max Holloway ✔@blessedmma Textbook #Money #MayPac Shane Mosley ✔@shanemosley_ I don't know about the decision being unanimous, but It was close. It could go either way. rounds were close on my card. #MosleySays Josh Samman ✔@joshsamman A non climactic Mayweather fight.. Who woulda thought? #mma > #boxing Oscar De La Hoya ✔@oscardelahoya Sorry boxing fans. Babalu's Iron Gym @babalusirongym I don't agree @mannypacquiao is the champ of night Fabricio Werdum ✔@fabriciowerdum Maywether it's sucks Phillipe Nover @phillipenover I give Manny credit. He came forward and wanted to box. Seemed like Floyd was content with sitting on the ropes and dancing around. Eddie Bravo @eddiebravo As a former boxing fanatic, this was the last nail on the coffin for me .I would rather watch pre-season midget slam ball in the snow The Spartan ✔@eliastheodorou I don't know, I thought Floyd's toughest fight was still against the Big Show. #neverforget Shayna Baszler ✔@qosbaszler Mayweather landed more strikes & also had more submission attempts #guillotine #MayPac michael ✔@bisping Max kellerman is bit of a prick with manny. Josh Samman ✔@joshsamman The really expensive circus is over folks! Please turn back in your "boxing expert" cards at the door. Cathal Pendred ✔@pendred The winner of the fight..... MMA. Rashad Evans ✔@sugarashadevans Congrats to @floydmayweather! Manny got caught watching too much. He watched so much he might as well bought a ticket to the fight. Tyson & Malignaggi thoroughly underwhelmed by Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: 'We waited 5 years for that' You guys would know more than me, but haven't UFC's PPV & tv numbers been declining recently? I know everyone is starting up the familiar "boxing is dead" routine, but from the outside looking in, it appears that UFC is less popular than it was four or five years ago.

Yes, MMA's popularity has definitely declined since their peak of a few years ago. source: www.bloodyelbow.com/2015/1/31/7952683/why-ufc-ppv-model-is-doomed-2014-ppv-buys-mma-stats

Who has Floyd not fought that you would count as being 'actual competition'? I just find it staggering that Mayweather is the highest paid athlete in the world, has been at the top of his sport for years and has been involved in some of the biggest PPV events ever... and yet there are still people who are apparently shocked by the way he fights. Why are you spending $100 on something you clearly don't know anything about?

I wasn' t upset. I wasn't surprised. Mayweather did what I expected him to do which is what he normally does. Honestly one of the happiest moments in my life was seeing Mayweather win this. The amount of salt is glorious.

I enjoyed the fight. I was looking through the perspective of "Can Mayweather dodge Pacquiao's punches?" and "What would happen if Pacquiao caught Mayweather?" I learned the answer to both. It wasn't a Roy Jones Jr highlight reel or a Mike Tyson slugfest, but if that's what you were expecting to see, then you were wasting your $100 from the beginning.

Why are you spending $100 on something you clearly don't know anything about? Call me crazy, I actually like the way Mayweather fights. He is just a technical fighter, very accurate and selective with his punches and one of the best defenses ever. Also, yeah Mayweather hasn't fought anyone, than how would have all of these championships? Over the last few years all he has been doing is fighting champions. Out of the last 6 fights, 5 of them have been for titles and the other one was a rematch against the champion he beat. People really need to stop believing everything they hear.

Exactly, it was Mayweather's defense vs Pacquioa's all out attack and knockout power. If you were expecting an all out war you would be disappointed, but if you knew both fighters well enough you knew what to expect.

Canelo was demolishing people while looking excellent and Floyd made him look human. Canelo may not have been a "big" name to the people who aren't regular boxing fans but the kid has a fight next week people should def check out.

I don't mind Floyd's style all that much. Too many former boxers are in shit health because the term "defense" never entered their vocabulary. Hell, show me the former boxer that can even spell the word defense correctly. I hate "Money," but you can't not respect just how good of an awful, little turtle he is. It's not a gimmick either. They were showing his old fights earlier that day. Him debuting as a pro at 19 some 19 years ago fought with that exact same sensibility, only now he's sick with it. It's just.....a style. You can pointfight. You can duck and dip and dodge and clinch and jab and make them burn up all their go juice throwing useless punches. You can take it to a D. That's still boxing. It might not excite you, but it is a pretty brilliant thing to watch be played out. Pacquiao is a little Tazmanian devil. If he could've hurt him, he would've. If people expected a blood bath that's fault number one. The biggest thing I thought coming into the fight was Manny would be relentless early on and try go for broke but he never did that. A credit to Floyd's boxing skills and a fault for Manny not having that dog in him anymore. People are going to watch Floyds last fight no matter how "boring" he is because the man is a technician in the ring. Manny will have one more fight in his hometown to give people one last glimpse of him against someone he can knock silly. Both men get to enjoy their money and go out the way they want not retire due to damages to mind and suffer the consequences later. I'd rather fight boring then end up like Ali later in my lifetime.

Atleast it inspired this...
While I liked the fight, I can understand how some of the causal fans were expecting Hagler v Hearns.
