I still wonder how Jake Roberts got away with having no physique whatsoever considering Vince was his boss Simple
He told Vince to Trust Him.

This is why I can't get behind CM Punk as a downtrodden "little guy". He wasn't some "woe is me" down on his luck wrestler with crappy genetics who couldn't get any bigger no matter how much work he put in at the gym. He just...stopped. Punk was perfectly capable of being that jacked guy Vince creamed over, and since he's straight edge, he was obviously doing it cleanly. Exactly. Plenty of guys can look good and fit naturally. Even a smaller, somewhat chunky guy like Sami Zayn looks great compared to Punk. I don't care if CM Punk was running marathons during 2009-2012... he looked like shit. 2013 I can somewhat understand with his health problems. If I could be serious for a second (ignoring my creepy looks-obsessed satirical Vince McMahon-esque gimmick on here) WWE is a looks-driven business... just look at the dude in the too-tight pink undies and tell me he looks good enough to be your champ. Yes, I know, he is completely overshadowed by John "I have enough money to buy designer drugs that aren't caught by wellness policy tests" Cena, but the fact remains... Punk could have helped his own career out by training better and eating smarter. I guess I don't look at things quite the way you do. I don't see anything wrong with Punk in that pic, other than pink is truly not his color. I am certain you think Dan Severn has always looked like shit too, but I bet you were not stupid enough to tell him that to his face. To me the standard has always been believable enough was enough. I tend to compare wrestlers to average people, in which case Punk looks perfectly fine there. I know that not everyone feels that way. I think Punk has even gotten a McMahon-inspired mindset hammered into his skull. I find it amusing whenever he does an interview with Chris Hardwick because the two of them look at Punk's physique from completely different angles. Hardwick does not care about wrestling, but friends of his got him to talk to a few select ones (Punk, Foley, Edge, and Jericho) and while I think he enjoyed interviewing the others he seems to adore Punk (meeting him for the first time on Talking Dead probably helped in that regard). Anyways, Hardwick will sometimes refer to Punk as being a very impressive physical specimen in their interviews because from his perspective as an average guy, Punk is impressive. Punk always sounds baffled and flustered by it and always sounds like he does not agree and not because he is being modest. I think the "skinny, fatass" comments did bite deep and affected his own view of himself. I imagine many guys get that. Matt Hardy getting called fat for years despite the fact that he was still more fit than 90-95% of the men in the crowd calling him fat. Chris Masters off of the roids looked even more like he was carved of granite, just with muscles that could be useful instead of just for show, but he did not get pushed when he was not juicing. It is something that frustrates me, to be honest.

Punk looks fine there tbh.
Muscles don't mean shit in terms of fighting.

I tend to compare wrestlers to average people, in which case Punk looks perfectly fine there. Severn at least looks/looked big and thick, and he actually had a legit background. We was/is also billed at 30 lbs heavier than Punk at the same height. Punk's "legit" background was pretty much a couple of stolen Kenta moves while Joey Styles said he has a "Muy Thai background." Exactly. I tend to compare wrestlers to average people, in which case Punk looks perfectly fine there. I get that, but then again, there are plenty of guys walking on the streets that look way more muscular and leaner than Punk. I will say that I agree with you for the most part. Like I said in the OP, I'll probably never look as good as Adam Rose. Chris Masters 2010-2011 was much more agile and a better worker than roid Masters. Matt Hardy was looking quite rough around 2010, but now, at 40, he looks pretty good.

Late indies or OVW (I remember on one of Colt's podcasts he said he was "up to 240" in order to look big enough to get called up). ECW 2009 2012 Also, another thing, looking up CM Punk pics, it's sad how they felt the need to photoshop abs onto his promo pics, not to mention video games and action figures. K, I do see a difference there. But that last one should have inspired a "What are Punk and Cena reacting to?" photoshop.

There was a similar thread not too long ago... The topic's about changes in physique, I'm not sure what Abed Nadir has to do with a roided up The Rock.

There was a period in 2007 where Lashley looked to be a good bit slimmer than any other point.

I remember seeing some photos of Renee Dupree and he looked a lot different to how he looked during his WWE run. He also had some terrible new tattoos

Damn Orton changed a lot in 6 years. First person that came to mind. Orton was HUGE in 2006/2007. In particular the Rated RKO days. He looked fluffy, and just..beefcake buff/fat. Ala Punk in his ECW days. Then Orton returns in '09 and he's lean, has sleeves, a shaved head, new song, seems physically clean and becomes the Main Eventer he still is today.
