Jeez, you would think they chanted "you suck (____)" on full blast for the entire Divas match.

Most of it was during the break, they got "WE WANT AJ" & just "AJ" chants, "WE WANT BAYLEY" chants, Paige got a great reaction, they got a good amount of time on one of the most watched RAW's of the year.

They'll be fine.

Yeah, they were good at points but chanting 'LET'S GO DIVAS' after that display is just an invitation for WWE to exploit those crowds and not really consider their voices as valuable or take them seriously beyond a single night.

Not to justify it (because it's not justified), but when chanted at a male, it's implying homosexual acts in an attempt to emasculate.

Crowds like last night are the reason why I hope New Japan never gets even semi-big.

The day I hear these kind of chants at a New Japan show is the day I quit watching wrestling.

I think wrestling fans earn their not so good reputation. When you tell people you like wrestling and they give you that "WTF are you retarded?" look, I can understand why. We're the type of people that chants about people sucking dicks and ruin hall of fame's with chants. We stink IMO.

There's a difference: "sucks", in most popular usage, doesn't really refer to oral sex the way it used to. It's more taken the place of "stinks". Obviously there's a level of subjectivity to language, but once you change it to "you suck </whomever>", the implications change; it has now moved to a direct, intentional reference to oral sex.

Worse, the notion that "Divas only have their jobs because they do sexual favors for Vince/Hayes/Laurenitis/etc." has been prevalent for years now; chanting this expressly at the women (it's a chant that would never be directed at the guys) is a way of saying "You only have this job because of who you sleep with; you're not a worthwhile enough performer for us to recognize you in any way beyond the man you have sex with; that's your only identity with us."

Anyway, yeah, once post-Mania crowds started to realize the trends/memes they could create, they set their own expiration date. Self-awareness kills the spontaneity that made the original ones of them more enjoyable.

You say "Expiration date" but believe me, these guys aren't going away. The post-Raw mania is pretty much the conglomerate of the smarkiest of fans all over the world. The only way it'd probably go away is if one of the wrestlers finally puts the crowd in their place in a way that makes them feel like assholes, but that's not gonna happen.

Have you seen what your average citizen posts on facebook? As far as I've seen wrestling fans are like any other group, and if anything it seems like a fairly civil and good natured group of people largely.
