Can I just ask something? The go to chant for disapproval of some one is "you suck." Isn't that already an implication of blowjobs to begin with? Is it really any more sexist to name the recipient of said act, especially when the public already knows the identity of such? There's a difference: "sucks", in most popular usage, doesn't really refer to oral sex the way it used to. It's more taken the place of "stinks". Obviously there's a level of subjectivity to language, but Once you change it to "you suck </whomever>", the implications change; it has now moved to a direct, intentional reference to oral sex. Worse, the notion that "Divas only have their jobs because they do sexual favors for Vince/Hayes/Laurenitis/etc." has been prevalent for years now; chanting this expressly at the women (it's a chant that would never be directed at the guys) is a way of saying "You only have this job because of who you sleep with; you're not a worthwhile enough performer for us to recognize you in any way beyond the man you have sex with; that's your only identity with us." Anyway, yeah, once post-Mania crowds started to realize the trends/memes they could create, they set their own expiration date. Self-awareness kills the spontaneity that made the original ones of them more enjoyable. The crowd last year were amazing for the women's segment. I hope this year was just an exception; the show absolutely looks worse in retrospect.

Self-awareness kills the spontaneity that made the original ones of them more enjoyable. Just because the word "suck" is so commonly used, does not sever the connotations to oral sex. It may not change the rating of the show, but it still refers to the act regardless. As far as the Bellas go, you pretty much described the entirety of their on screen personas. Their relationships with top talent has been spotlighted on a reality show. The fact that they are dating Bryan and Cena is the reason for Total Divas's existence. Despite being on TV for years, you play word association with the Bella Twins, and John Cena and Daniel Bryan will certainly be the two most popular answers, not any of the Bellas adversaries in the ring. Lastly, the implication that they are where they are today because of those relationships has been made on TV several times by other talent like AJ Lee. I don't know if it made camera last night, but AJ and Paige were egging the crowd on the whole way. I will gladly admit that there is a sexist element present, but the source is totally not the audience whatsoever, nor does it mean that myself and the others in the crowd card-carrying misogynists. It's just another way of presenting the Bellas as heels, and it sure worked last night.

And considering the crowd apparently booed those who attempted to make the same assertion about AJ, the whole "it was just innocent fun" thing is completely BS.

My understanding at the present time was that this all went down on the app, and not on TV. Honest to god, I did not hear those chants. Did you guys hear it, or is this embellished second hand info? My plane is about to take off, so I'll address this further when I get home.

It cracked me up when they booed down the You Suck Punk chants, like "BOO YOU SUCK CENA/USO/TYSON/BRYAN/PU...WAIT NO NOT PUNK! NOT THE YOU THE BEHOLDER OF THE GREAT REBEL ANTIAUTHORITY BADASS GUY CM PUNK SMARK GOD'S PENIS! GO AJ! PLEASE DON'T HATE US MR AND MRS. BROOKS!" Like get the f*** outta here, selective sexism doesn't make you any less of a dick. And I'm sure AJ hated hearing her co-workers get those chants too, so you're still pissing her off either way.

Let's talk hypocracy for a second. People are putting the crowd on full blast for stupid sexist chants, but can't wait to throw Suplex City BITCH, on a tshirt and acting as if that word isn't offensive or sexist.
This company can't be too upset with sexist chants and slut-shaming when their perfect goody goody role model character for children everywhere was slut-shaming the shit out of Lana for no reason a month back or so. Over the years, the WWE has been nothing but exploitative and sexist from HLA to bra and panties matches to chants that people were just fine with directed toward mrs. H, Trish, Lita etc. I have no idea why some are shocked and appalled that a company who has perpetuated sexism for as long as they have would attract a certain percentage of sexist fans chanting sexist things.
I am not excusing the actions of those in the crowd, but acting as if they were anything more than the symptom of a bigger problem is short-sighted

I love rowdy crowds chanting like maniacs. LOVE hot crowds and it's the best part of the after Mania RAW.
But a crowd chanting We Are Awesome is akin to liking your own post on a forum. Come the f*** on.
As for the diva chants, I can do without that crap. Really hope we don't get back to the whole embarrassing shit people chanted at Lita for that time. If this was a one off, and it probably was... then it's whatever. Just don't want it to catch on.

In football, in the UK, if the fans chant things like that then the club gets punished and the fans are often investigated.

What exactly is meaningless about it? Seth doesn't have an opponent for Extreme Rules yet and the tag match lets 3 guys who hate him let him and the rest of The Authority know that they're not going to let the little shit get away with everything he's done easily. There's a month until the pay-per-view, they can't just say "K you're facing him, Raw over" and just leave it like that. It's called build up.

Chanting "We Are Awesome" is probably the most pathetic wrestling related thing that I've heard lately.

The only thing I had an issue with were the sexist chants.
The audience were hot for everything on the show, something that cannot be said for about 48 of the 52 Raw audiences per year. Sure they were self-indulgent with the "we are awesome" chant, but dammit, they helped elevate a half-decent episode of Raw into a pretty good one so I won't begrudge them patting themselves on the back.

No worse than a website and forum called Freakin' Awesome Network And your posting on it. Yes because I see nothing wrong with wrestling fans calling themselves awesome, especially a rabidly engaged and enthusiastic post-WM crowd. As I've said, for those who don't like it, they generally have 51 weeks of the year where those crowds don't exist. So just wait six days and you'll get a crowd more to one's liking.
