Is the WWE such a shitty place to work that no one can stomach sticking around for a brief sendoff? Seems like everyone just disappears. That is an interesting thing, more wrestlers than not don't get a sendoff. Even big names. What would an AJ send off be like? Her saying thanks to the fans and see you later in a brief promo? Would it fit her character also? My guess is some just don't feel like they need to make a big deal out of it, plus I'm assuming you'd have to ask for a segment like that. Like how some people don't make a big deal about their birthday or something like that, I dunno. Another thing is, for a younger wrestler, saying goodbye in a retirement kind of way would be shutting the door when maybe they aren't fully sure about the future. Plus it seems you have to be kind of a big deal fan fav for this type of thing to even come up, so it's not too surprising when midcard favs often get Future Endeavor'd without anything onscreen really indicating it. I do think it would be cool to see something like that though, but her WrestleMania match made for a good sendoff I think. It's way sharper than just "more wrestlers than not" though. That would be fine and sensible. We're talking about more like 1 in 50 that people would even know have left without referencing the internet. It might not even be 1 in 50. I don't even remember the last wrestler that left who didn't simply not appear again only to get a little entry on wwe.com saying so. If there have been a couple recently, doesn't really matter, only an exception that proves the rule.

Kind of sucks for thier division. I don't know...I thought she was okay as Bryan's abused GF and I liked the storyline a few years ago in the beginning, but grew tired of her once all the focus was on her. I think what killed my interest in her was the Cena storyline and lame heel turn. When she lost and came back last year I cared even less. Her matches...I can't think of many I even remember. Trish, Lita, Mickie, Molly, Melina and Victoria all had more memorable matches than AJ did.
I still say she peaked in 2012. Nothing else to do in 2015 and beyond.

I'm wondering if this "retirement" is going to be similar to when Victoria retired from WWE and Tara showed up in TNA. Not like she would show up in TNA, but just a thought.

Re-watching WrestleMania, at the end of the divas tag match, Paige looks visibly upset, hugs AJ and says what looks like "...miss you so much"
Anybody else see this?

Not that. I'm thinking doing indies, especially if the price is right and people want to build a women's division in an ROH or something.

I'm upset we won't get to see these great matches with AJ against the likes of Charlotte, Sasha, and Bailey that I've been anticipating. Tragic. Eh if she wasn't going to quit now, she would have left when those three came up. I feel like when wrestlers retire we get have a tendency to put them up at a pedestal where they don't belong. AJ, the crazy character was great. AJ the wrestler...not so much. She either hasn't improved or she's regressed. Hell Nikki Bella is a better in ring performer. Once Charlotte and Sasha come up, it wouldn't have shocked me to see AJ regulated to occasional appearances anyway.

Me and AJ in the meeting I alluded to earlier in this thread at Axxess. Such a shame to see her go

Nikki better than AJ? lol
She's fine when AJ is there to sell for her.
But she still sucks. Watch her closely during matches. She's always looking for her opponent to guide her in the match. Often literally with an expression that says "OK, I've done Step # 6 - The Turnbuckle Spot....now 7 seconds until Step # 7 - The Irish Whip.....yes?....is that the right one?"

I am sure this has been pointed out by this point, but now that we know AJ is moving on, it makes more sense why she wore a Bayley shirt on Raw. It was AJ's way of endorsing or putting over Bayley on her way out. On her way out she got to team with Paige at Mania and then wore a Bayley t-shirt on Raw. I think she genuinely likes Paige and Bayley and wants to see them do well after she leaves.

Got sick of her quickly, her act got real stale. The fact that she just kept coming back and getting the title was annoying, just seemed like she was the only diva they cared about. That GM run was terrible too, completely overshadow the Punk vs. Bryan feud which could have been great.
"B-b-but she didn't book herself!" So what? Chick is stale and had been going through the motions for the last year or so. Good riddance. Maybe more divas will get a chance on top now? lol sure.

I might be wrong, but I really think any case of her 'regressing' or 'phoning it in' in the last year is because she got so little ring time. She took three months off after Wrestlemania, came back, apparently got injured on the Raw after Summerslam then worked the next few months with a busted neck and back, took another break to heal up, then had literally been back a month then she retired, possibly in part because said injuries weren't healing well enough. Meanwhile, Nikki Bella has wrestled on nearly every TV taping and house show, there'd be something wrong if Nikki wasn't the more fluid in the ring of the two in those circumstances. She really reminded me of Punk in his final days, it looked like she was doing all she could to keep up, but all she could wasn't enough anymore because she was beat up as f***.

I don't get why some people seem to be happy that AJ is gone
I would honestly much rather watch an 'unmotivated', 'stale' AJ Lee every week than watch the likes of Eva Marie, Cameron and Rosa Mendes. People can say what they want, but there are only a few women on the main roster who are as good as AJ in the ring, and none of them are anywhere near as good as she is on the mic. That's not to say that AJ is an amazing talker, but she is better/more composed/natural than every other women on the roster and even most of the men.
I do not care what anyone else thinks, AJ Lee has always been one of my favourites on the roster. For the last few years my top three favourites have been Daniel Bryan, Cm Punk and AJ Lee and now Bryan is the only one left. She isn't just one of my favourite wrestlers, she is one of my favourite people. I love watching her interviews/comic con panels etc and I hope that she continues to do stuff like that

From what I've seen, it falls into the following catagories:
"She was stale!" - As opposed to who? The other women? They are all stale. Blame the writers.
"She hogged all the screentime" - Yeah that two minutes every other week was precious.
"Now they can push (X)!" - Apparently only one woman can be pushed at a time.
The rest is typical trollish stuff.
