Are the Motor City Machine Guns still a thing? That would be cool. Apparently Shelley got kneed into Sheepshead Bay tonight, but if he's okay that would be amazing. |

Its a pretty good idea. NXT is expanding fast, and I prefer see them do special events like this rather than adding more titles.

The Crockett Cups would feature 24 teams, and NXT only has 6:
Blake & Murphy
Chad Gable & Jason Jordan
Enzo Amore & Big Cass
The Hype Bros
The Mechanics
The Vaudevillains
I did get the impression that outside talent would be involved though. Probably the teams from the main roster, as well as maybe some legends.

Tournaments are such an easy and believable rationale for setting up matches that it's unfathomable to me that the WWE doesn't do them all the time. Instead of throwing out random matches and rematches between guys who aren't doing anything, they could quickly put it into a tournament bracket for a midcard belt, and everyone would instantly understand it.
So yes, tournaments are good. Even better if this is a way of having some Japanese guys come in and showcase their talents. NXT isn't just new ideas, it's old ideas that feel fresh because Vince and Dunn have long since decided that they don't work for their product.
