I feel like the two obvious options are on the shelf right now.
If Hideo comes back as a bitter heel and they go with a full blown program they'll tear the roof off at one of these Takeovers.
Same with Zayn. If Balor is the one to turn heel and Zayn comes back next year to chase his title the emotions of that match will rival Bayley/Sasha.

Maybe Joe? AJ Styles is about Finn's size and he worked great with him. Though I don't think Balor could lace AJ Styles' boots.

I think he's had it, the match at Beast in the East against Owens.

I believe he needs a very strong heel or a beloved babyface
Neville had two real big feuds sami zayn and bo dallas
They bookmarked his time in nxt
Beast in the East was his moment
Would love to see him defend in msg.
Something big like say we get a match like Corbin/Bálor

He should turn heel. Nothing about his NXT work stands out as a face and variations of this topic have popped up often.
Hell, 'The Demon' makes more sense as a heel.

I think he's had it, the match at Beast in the East against Owens. The ladder match was pretty damn memorable too. It wasn't a typical WWE ladder match with the usual checklist of spots. It had some of them for sure, but they seemed to get a little more creative with it.

Depends on what you consider standout. I've given three of his matches this year ****¼. The one against Adrian Neville at Rival, the Beast in the East match and the ladder match in Brooklyn.
I do think his best stuff will be with Hideo Itami when he returns. I'd also love a Finn/Zayn match.

Well I think in terms of ring work AJ Styles is one of the best ever, so that's not too much of a knock against him. I really liked the ladder match honestly. I think the MITB's have ruined ladder matches a little with their spotfests but I like the slower style ones such as this or Benoit/Jericho, HBK/Jericho. His match with Neville was great too. But yeah, give him Joe.

Give him an angle as well-built as Zayn/Neville, Zayn/Owens, or Bayley/Banks, and we'll see how it goes.

Neville, if they bring back him for one night They tore the house down in Korakuen Hall (NJPW) few years ago. They already fought at Takeover, it was average. I don't think Balor is good enough to steal the show like that, honestly. He is good but the weakest of the Indy guys by far. Being fair though, his move list was stolen before he signed like Itami. It's hard to adapt when everyone has already seen your stuff.

Meltzer's already given three of his matches 4.25 stars in his very brief WWE run:
2/11/15 - Number One Contenders Match: Finn Balor vs. Neville (TakeOver: Rival) 7/4/15 - Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens (Beast in the East) 8/25/15 - Ladder Match: Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens (TakeOver: Brooklyn)
He's a had a few other 4.25 star matches in NJPW (4 times I believe) and only one that was ranked higher than that with 4.5 stars:
1/4/13 - Triple Threat Match: Prince Devitt vs. Kota Ibushi vs. Low Ki (Wrestle Kingdom 7)
So his high profile matches from NXT are actually right there with the best work of his career. I anticipate more good matches from him, on par with the Neville and Owens matches. I, like everyone else here, expect that he'll deliver great matches with Samoa Joe, Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn, or Apollo Crews.

I think if you're a big enough fan of his he probably has had them already. His tournament match with Neville was really good, this Japan match with Owens was a great atmosphere and moment. I just don't really connect much with the character so I'm kind of numb to it but I could see the appeal.

The ladder match especially was same old same old. Meltzer has his Japan boner on there.

I like Finn the person based on the video packages and support his success, but he really has no investment from me as a character. He actually makes me less interested to see Kevin Owens wrestle simply because I don't care about Finn, but then that's partially because I knew Owens wouldn't win cause he's headed for the main show.

It's not the matches he needs a standout of. All of them have been good to great. What he needs is a storyline, he really hasn't had one yet. Meltzer's already given three of his matches 4.25 stars in his very brief WWE run: 2/11/15 - Number One Contenders Match: Finn Balor vs. Neville (TakeOver: Rival) 7/4/15 - Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens (Beast in the East) 8/25/15 - Ladder Match: Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens (TakeOver: Brooklyn) He's a had a few other 4.25 star matches in NJPW (4 times I believe) and only one that was ranked higher than that with 4.5 stars: 1/4/13 - Triple Threat Match: Prince Devitt vs. Kota Ibushi vs. Low Ki (Wrestle Kingdom 7) So his high profile matches from NXT are actually right there with the best work of his career.
