She's sounds like all girl power and then turns into well... me. :/ She's the kind of girl who does the whole "All other girls are awful" schtick to make herself standout. It's the equivalent of those dudebros who go all alpha male and try to dog people to impress others. Basically, "all girls are terrible except for me, please give me attention". You can see that as a running theme through all those tweets about how a certain "level" of girl shouldn't do things or say or get attention from men. You have to be at her exact "standard" to be allowed to do those things, and there's only one person at her "standard" and that's her. Chick is insecure as hell. |

You know Arby's is just biding its time now, making sound investments and will be buy all food sources by 2019 to make the non-believers pay. If they can banish one of the biggest names in the history of wrestling over racism, I'd be absolutely astonished if she's not gone over this. Hogan being one of the biggest names in wrestling is probably why they canned him. WWE doesn't want "WWE Star goes on Racist Tirade" headlines. Zahra isn't even a blip on the radar. If anything, WWE will just look the other way because barely anyone knows she exists, and there won't be as many news stories on the issue except a few blog posts and board threads here and there. But that's the whole point- barely anyone knows she exists, but people know what she said. In addition, there's also the other problematic side of letting her keep her job right now- they just fired Hulk Hogan, the biggest name in wrestling history- but they don't fire this unknown "blip on the radar" who's barely on Florida house shows for more things as bad or worse than Hulk Hogan ever said, then the real message is clear: She's allowed to keep her job solely because she's Rollins's girlfriend. Considering how much WWE is trying to hype up the Divas' Revolution, not firing her and pretty much taking out a full-page ad saying "Zahra Schreiber's job is to have sex with Seth Rollins on the road, and as long as he enjoys that she's above the law!" would make all of that rebranding fall apart at the seams. |

Making mistakes is part of being human. If we were perfect, we wouldn't have so many issues in our world. The solution to most of these problems is helping a person understand what is wrong and why it is wrong, not ostracize them and harden their hearts. You get her out of the WWE, but she'll still be a racist. She'll still have racist thoughts. So rather than her being a pro wrestler, she'll find another job, and carry that racism with her. Or maybe she'll eventually has kids and teach them the fundamentals of racism. In a professional context, I absolutely agree with WWE for firing her. But firing her isn't the answer to the real problem, because it doesn't get to the root of it. It's merely a Band-Aid for a gaping, gangrenous wound. Non-hostile dialogue, however, can get to the bottom of the problem and solve it. It'd probably take a lot of work in her case, but if it didn't work, the civil rights movement wouldn't be a thing. |

The issue of what type of dialogue is considered constructive in matters like this can be a vexing one in an age of instant communication. On the one hand, my first instinct is to agree: I'd rather assume a person says ignorant/offensive things from a place of ignorance, and not a place of malice or hatred, so I'd rather at least try to communicate politely first. On the other, such dialogue is often ineffective; it takes prolonged exposure to lived experiences around people of different backgrounds/sexualities/disabilities/etc. to get people to wise up on such matters, and attempts to be civil often get ignored. Hell, it's not like the civil rights movement was steeped in polite discourse in the face of overwhelming racism and apartheid oppression; a lot of the language used was filled with righteous anger, and patience for those who didn't "get it" was often thin. It's why I think it's kind of annoying when folks get pissy over somebody from a marginalized group "calling somebody out"; some of those folks typically put up with a lot, and don't always feel particularly inclined to engage civilly in the face of overt -isms. I guess, to put it more bluntly: I would much rather see this woman learn and grow as a person as a result of this than see her cost herself a potentially bright future. On the other hand, if some folks are going to address the matter in a way that may not seem "non-hostile", I don't particularly care if it hurts her feelings or something, because that's reaping what you sew. In the case of WWE itself, it unfortunately all boils down to what's best for their bottom line, and little else. |

If Seth doesn't do anything about this whole Zahra thing soon, it's gonna deep-six his career right as it hits its crescendo. Well I doubt that. He's not going to get nailed to the wall because of what his girlfriend said. And really, what's the worst that would happen to him? "Now you'll lose to Sting in 12 minutes instead of 20!" Actually, that seems like a preferable outcome because:  As for Zahra, from a purely cold business standpoint, she's been causing more uncomfortable situations that it's worth so WWE should cut their losses. As for her on a personal level, she's an idiot (and possible a much worse being) who needs to find out that there are consequences for internet idiocy. |
