I think this thread needs pictures so we can compare Harley's evolving appearance in an intellectual and academic manner.

I like a character evolving. She's only been around for 30 years, and she's super popular. Batman and Joker took a long time to find their stride, just enjoy the ride.
Good lord, I need sleep.

I liked her more as an insane overobsessed lover than a brutal psychotic serial killer. It just seems to have gone so far in the other end that it's to see them as teh same character. I don't mind characters evolving (although I am glad her nure/schoolgirl outfit was very limited), but I like it more when it seems like it really keeps in spirit with the character. The few panels of hers that I've seen in recent years makes it seem like she hasn't kept that spirit.

Lookin at em all side by side like that, they're not really that significant/egregious changes that I'd assumed/been led to believe by all the hubbub.

It definitely feels like Harley's been flanderized since BTAS went off the air.
But to be fair, I could say the same thing about the Joker.

I like her overall evolution and her separation from just being Joker's sidekick to being her own person, but there is a real tendency to oversexualize female comic book characters. I think this Tumblr post kinda sums up that fear:
Also, the romanticizing of Joker and Harley's abusive relationship is about 128 kinds of creepy.

I love how she kept basically the same design for years, and then Arkham games came out and suddenly evey iteration of Harley changed to the pigtails and corsets look we have now.

In Mad Love, she's abused and is throwing herself at Joker in lingerie. She's practically hanging out of her clothes and really isn't too different compared to what we have today.
Characters need to change or they become stagnant. If characters never changed, we could still have campy Batman running around.

I think one of my favorite Harley comics is a Valentine's Day standalone. She wins a date with Bruce Wayne. And they actually have a pretty good time.
Then Batman catches up with her in Brooklyn and while he doesn't exactly trust her, he commends her on doing a good job in fighting crime in Brooklyn and promises not to interfere. Then Harley kisses Batman and comments that he should get lessons on kissing from Bruce Wayne. It not only does a great job of showing how much Harley has grown, but reminds us of Batman's humanity and his hope that his rogues gallery do reform, while encouraging said reform.

I've always hated her. I think she neuters The Joker any time she's paired with him. This is a guy who would kill a guy for screwing up his drive-thru order, yet he keeps around a complete moron who's actively screwed up his plans on numerous occasions? I just think her existence demonstates Paul Dini's complete lack of understanding of The Joker.
