Probably banned in Nevada because it cuts into other gambling profits for the state

Say bye bye Nevada Gaming Commission rules #dailyfantasy gambling, and says #draftkings, #fanduel & all other sites must cease & desist operating Good news for the season long fantasy sports folks as Nevada is now season long fantasy sports only now

Probably banned in Nevada because it cuts into other gambling profits for the state Or because it obviously exploits loopholes.

The glorious thing is if they wanted to keep going in Nevada, they'd basically have to admit they are a form of gambling, which is exactly what they don't want to do.
Also, like 8 of the sites(including FanDuel(but not Draft Kings yet) have ceased operations in Nevada).

The way I see it, while it is not outright gambling, the states that have a lotto might be able to skirt this since you are just picking players. No different than picking lotto numbers.
That is how I see the lawyers arguing it.
It brings up the issue of taxes and whatnot, and the non lotto states, if some still exist, are SOL.

Paid fantasy is no different than straight sports betting. This is the discussion that I had with my friends on Sunday. Fan Duel and Draft Kings claim its a game of skill, but it's no more a game of skill than betting on who wins between two teams. One person tried arguing projections for players and picking the ones projected to do the best, but between the Patriots and the Colts, if the Patriots are projected to do the best, and I put money on them, it's the same exact thing. And if I put money on the Colts or a player that isn't projected to do as well hoping that they'll have a monster week. Well, long story short, yeah, it's the same thing.

FanDuel is so awesome that they gave me a million dollars despite the fact I've never even visited their web site.

New York is the next one to ban them A lot of the NY teams have either DK or FD as big time sponsors, so it'll be interesting to see what happens with that now.

I find the ads annoying as the next guy but how about instead if bemoaning gambling we regulate it and tax it instead of driving it underground

Last Week Tonight made their main story about Daily Fantasy tonight. For those without HBO, the segment should be on YouTube some time Monday. Recommend watching it.

Here's the John Oliver segment
I'm surprised he didn't mention the insider trading controversy. That's the thing that has really pushed it being outlawed in states.

I swear fanduel sets up fake accounts to put our rosters to fill tournaments. I'm amazed by the amount of people with perfect rosters
