I think that jericho lost some good will when he wrestled against punk or fandango at wrestlemania. is podcast and defending bill demott was the final nail in the coffin. Also Orton had 2 eras of being hated. Post WM 25 and Post christian match. Also ryback was hated from day one, and got some of his love back by the time that he started pairing with curtis axel The downfall of Fandango and Ryback put across the idea that "Jericho putting young guys over doesn't mean anything" anymore.

Jericho started with all the fancy "End of The World" promos leading to the Jeritroll character, then came defending Reigns and DeMott. Then came not attacking Stephanie during the podcast, and that was the nail in Jericho's coffin.
Ryback was dead after Punk trashed him. He's got a little bit of it back, though. He's blowing it again being put next to Owens.
Sheamus was 18 seconds.
Paige was MRAH HARSE.
Orton was getting sent home for trashing a hotel room when most smarks suspect that it was REALLY a 3rd failed wellness test that the E didn't want to fire him for.
Cena was refusing to work with Christian.
Ryder started with looking like a total Doofus being asked to keep up with Punk on the Mic and Bryan in the ring. It continued with getting emasculated at the hands of Eve Torres, and the "PUSH ME!" trunks were Strike Three.

Looking back, I don't think Ryback suffered much from Punk's comments, around that time he was making his return as a babyface and had crowd support, I can't recall the last Goldberg chant towards him, and his friendship with Bryan and Ziggler also helps him.

With Jericho it seemed to be when he became rather nauseating and sanctimonious in his podcasts. His 3rd book struck a lot of the same chords as Foley's third book. That turned a lot of "smarks" off. Could you expand on your feelings about this? I'd always assumed his third book was pretty well liked. The only thing that bugs me about it is that he seems completely unaware that he's an obnoxious jerk at times (according to his own stories) and he doesn't seem to learn any of the lessons he talks about learning throughout his life.

50% was "My good buddy John Cena..."
"smarks" hate that.

Let's not forget even Daniel Bryan was getting some backlash after WrestleMania XXX. If not for his injury, it may have been worse.

Ryback yo-yos between being fairly liked and "big dumb hoss" hated. Often depending on whether Punk is part of the conversation.

Cena - Feuds with Jericho/Christian/Angle in '05 Orton - Kinda tough to place. Either his billion matches with Cena in '09 or the Christian feud in '11. Sheamus - 18 seconds and the subsequent feud with Del Rio Ryback - I don't really think he's hated, but if he is it's probably due to the Punk feud in '12 and Punk's shoot Reigns - Superstar of the Year '14/ '15 Royal Rumble Batista - Original run: his infinite rematch clause. Recent run: Winning the Rumble Big Show - Tough to really place a specific incident. I'll just go with his feud with Orton in '13 where he tried to take over "Yes!" Del Rio - Feud with Real American Swagger. He was actually over after his face turn prior to that. Miz - His face turn in '12. More specifically, "YOUR MOM. OOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!!" HHH - Reign of Terror Jericho - Combination of his comebacks hitting a point of diminishing returns, plus his comments on DeMott and Reigns. Paige - I don't know if people have fully turned on her, but her comments regarding the fans recently come to mind. Ryder - "PUSH ME" trunks Kane - Corporate Kane

Ryback yo-yos between being fairly liked and "big dumb hoss" hated. Often depending on whether Punk is part of the conversation. I think its the two groups shouting back and forth. I don't think many are changing their mind more than once with him, its just sometimes "Da Big Guy" marks are louder and sometimes the "He's Stupid & Sloppy" detractors are louder. I'm forever stuck in the second category. I also think a slight majority apathy from the crowd (if not downright dislike) is his baseline. The pendulum just swings towards cheers whenever he's allowed to show his charisma on the mic, as long as he's not actually competing at the time (except for his pops during his chant-along finisher of course.)

Ziggler seems to have bombed with this Rusev fued. He was outright booed at times on Main Event against Kevin Owens. Guys don't like a guy who steals women and tries to cuckold funnily enough. Right, since Lana is an inanimate object with no say in the matter, and she didn't get dumped by Rusev and come on to Dolph. I think the problem here is that Dolph is honestly just not likable. He's got a punchable face and sounds like a smug, arrogant douche on the mic. I think my problem with Dolph is seeing him in the exact same spot for years has made me so sick of him. Obviously that's booking mostly but it's gotten to the point that I'm really so sick of his schtick. I hate his promos, I hate his overselling and I hate his horrible finisher. A couple years ago I was clamouring to see him as a main eventer but now I don't want to see him at all. He's been so stale for years now and never made any of the character tweaks needed to get him to the next level.

did Rey ever recover from the crime of not being Daniel Bryan at the Rumble? I swear the only time i saw him since was being booed against BNB. Also then being misblamed for Perrito dying.

Dolph "stealing Lana" just didn't happen, and Rusev has been a total asshole since he debuted, including how he dumped Lana for understanding him saying "I quit" in Bulgarian. It seems like people are trying to justify disliking Dolph, when they don't really have to. If you're not feeling it, you're not. No need to make up reasons why his character is really the bad guy in all this, because even if he is punchable, if we look at pure actions, Rusev is by far the heel here.

IIRC, people were long tired of Mysterio prior to the Rumble match. Well, when he was actually healthy and competing. I looked up his matches in WWE after the Rumble, all it was was being on the losing end of 6 man tag matches against the Shield and the Wyatts, not winning a random four-way match, being in the WM30 Battle Royal, and losing to Barrett (which was the night after Mania, so of course the crowd is gonna cheer Barrett). And does Rey still get blamed for Perrito? That's kinda f***ed up if he is.

My takes:
Cena - Jericho feud in '05 Orton - Ending Christian's first WHC reign Sheamus - 18 seconds Ryback - Rybaxel Reigns - Royal Rumble 2015 Batista - 2nd WHC reign Big Show - Feud with Straight Edge Society Del Rio - Cashing in MITB Miz - Post-face turn HHH - Reign of Terror Jericho - Becoming a part-timer Paige - Becoming a generic diva Ryder - Teaming with Santino Kane - Corporate Kane

I probably should have specified that I honestly haven't followed this storyline very closely at all and am just talking of my own personal experience with Dolph.

Yeah. Isn't it generally accepted that his ECW run was his best work? I'm not basing this on his work as much as I'm basing it on how the smarks reacted. There was a real feeling that Big Show was the worst thing ever when he got the title and generally was the first misstep people attribute to ECW's success. I remember a lot of people giving up right then and there. Had Big Show not taken a sabbatical for about a year afterward, he might even be more hated now.
