I'm pretty stoked for this.
Anybody else think Mulder actually looks older than Skinner now?

I'm pretty stoked for this. Anybody else think Mulder actually looks older than Skinner now? Skinner always looked great though. He's got that "I'm a suit but I'm in great shape and can kick your ass" Vince McMahon thing going on. Very excited, but a little sad Doggett won't be in at least one episode. A lot of fans didn't like him, but I really like Robert Patrick, and I'm always a fan of the "regular guy thrown into the fantastic" thing. That's probably why Winston was my favorite Ghostbuster.

Yeah, even though for me the quality show fell off a cliff when Duchovny left I thought Doggett was one of the better things about it. Maybe if we get another season after this he'll show up at some point?

That's why he never had even a cameo as the T-1000 in any of the Terminator sequels. Annabeth Gish is coming back as Reyes though, so at least they will hopefully explain what Doggett is up to in conversation. I hated that they didn't even warrant a mention in the movie a few years back.

I hope one of these episodes is a monster of the week, I always preferred those over the big over-arching mystery.

I'm pretty far removed from the x files. Wonder if I can rewatch the series before this airs?

I loved X-files, LOVED IT, I mean to a ridiculous degree, but there's a part of me that thinks some things are best left in the past (9 seasons was MORE than enough). Or, at the very least would have preferred an entirely different cast with some other duo picking up where Mulder and Scully left off.
I'm sure it'll be a great miniseries, but there are days where I'm like, when they said, "Fight the Future" I didn't think they meant this.

Chris Carter has said that there will be a balance between mythology episodes and monster-of-the-week ones. Pretty stoked for the show, not sure if it can possibly live up to the hype but it should hopefully be better than Heroes Reborn, right?

Rumor was that a sequel episode to home was going to be made entitled home again.

Yeah I just looked on Wiki and that seems to be Episode 2, actually kind of excited about that don't know if they could possibly make something that good again but definitely want to find out!

Variety didn't like it either.
from Indiewire, after the NYCC premiere.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to bother with this. While I watched episodes of X-Files back in the day, I was never a huge fan. I was a bit intrigued when I heard about the mini-series, but every thing I've seen about it since just makes it feel awkward and outdated. Now the early reviews are coming back bad and I'm wondering if it's worth it to set my DVR.

The indiewire review got me worried when it began comparing the first ep to fanfic-tier quality

I have it set to DVR. I'm still going to watch it. If it sucks, it sucks.

You all think I could watch this having not seen the original series fully? I know the gist of the how it started, and have seen some episodes. But I never saw the whole series.
So think I would be able to follow this? Cause it looks good to me.
