The gist I'm getting from reviews is that the first episode isn't good but the the next two more than make up for it so I'm going to watch.

You all think I could watch this having not seen the original series fully? I know the gist of the how it started, and have seen some episodes. But I never saw the whole series. So think I would be able to follow this? Cause it looks good to me. Episode 1 & 6 are mythology. 2, 3, 4 & 5 are Monster of the Week style, and don't play into the big story arc. So, you'd definitely be fine with those, but maybe a little lost with 1 & 6.

Good thing: They got Darin Morgan to write an episode. Bad thing: They didn't get Vince Gilligan to write one.

I had this set for DVR, but thanks to the football game last night, I missed half of it. That's exactly why I hate football.

Episode 2 pulled a 3.2 rating and almost 10 million viewers,
The time away didn't hurt the show

Haven't seen the second episode yet. So put off by the first that I'm going to take a break before I give it another shot. I really don't feel like that was a good way to reintroduce the X-Files after all these years. I'm a fan, I've rewatched it several times, and even I couldn't be excited by that return. Just felt like the worst traits of its mythology episodes, all thrown together in one giant pot. I hope the next episode is one that starts to redeem the continuation.

I've watched the two first episodes. The second episode is full on monster of the week episode. If you were put off by the conspiracy mash of the first episode I suggest you give the mini series a second chance.

I loved the first two episodes and don't really understand the hate.

Good thing: They got Darin Morgan to write an episode. Bad thing: They didn't get Vince Gilligan to write one. Vince said he was busy with conflicting schedules and was heart broken that he couldn't be involved. This was on the WTF podcast.

So on a whim, I decided to tune in, and I got a hilariously farcical tale with a lizard-man. Found myself watching that over most of Raw Hour One, and laughing a great deal.

That was a great, great episode and one of the funniest in the entire series.

That entire segment where the lizard guy's talking with Mulder is probably the funniest thing I've seen on TV in quite some time.

Just caught up with the first two episodes. Really good stuff so far.
It's pretty jarring seeing how much David Duchovny has aged though, especially compared to Gillian Anderson (who looks fantastic) and Mitch Pileggi (who flat out hasn't aged).

Lizard man is Rhys Darby (was in Flight Of The Conchords, the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man, What We Do In The Shadows & The Australian episode of Modern Family).

Finally saw the first 3 episodes. The first one wasn't as bad as some people are making it out to be, though it definitely could've used some fine tuning. I liked the twist of it being the government utilizing the alien technology and the aliens themselves being the ones who were trying to stop us from destroying ourselves, I just felt like something was off the whole episode. The show still knows how to play into that government paranoia just like it did in the 90s. The second episode was where I felt like it was fully back to form, and felt like old school X-Files again. And the third was brilliant for how it just took the typical monster of the week formula and turned it on its head. Overall I'm pleased with the revival and I can't wait to see what else is in store.
