I'm at the point where I need to build the teleporter to get into the institute, but am randomly wandering searching for vaults and companions. My favorite thus far is Hancock, guy's just a tough bastard. Really gotta up my bartering skills though, sick of running out of bullets mid battle. I got the perk that lets you find more ammo in containers, and never had a problem with ammo ever again. I recommend it. Yeah, never had a problem with ammo either, to the point I don't even bother trying to save it for later even for my most powerful guns. That and experience has taught me that my obsession with conserving ammo "for the right moment" in Fallout games only lead me to finishing the games with far more of it than I ever needed and wishing I had just used it earlier instead of making things unnecessarily difficult for myself by stubbornly sticking to my weaker guns. On an unrelated note, do you guys know if it's possible to increase the max size of a settlement? Because I just maxed out the on for the Red Rocket Station by building a wall around it as I didn't realize that the "Size" bar refers to how much you're allowed to build. That's a rather annoying feature too; you really should be allowed to build as much as you want, the resources are enough of a limit in my opinion. I imagine there must be mods that allow to remove the limit but I'm curious if you can get a perk or something that makes it possible.

If you're just starting, grenades and Molotov cocktails are your friend. They pretty much hit their targets all the time. Early on, it will save you from Ghoul hordes.
After you get like 10 levels in, though--you pretty much curbstomp most things really easily if you remember to upgrade your armor and weapons.

Molotovs are also extremely useful for disarming traps that otherwise can't be reached or seen. If you know there's a trap, but you can't get to it, tossing a Molotov to set it off will save you a lot of headache.

Just reached The Institute {Spoiler}Geared up with all my weapons, my power armour and Danse as my companion ready to f*** shit up and the mission has zero combat.
Ah well, Father being your son was a nice swerve. Unsure whether to keep helping The Brotherhood or shift alliances to The Institute now.

I absolutely love Travis from Diamond City Radio. I usually try to keep my quest list as small as I can but that Confidence Man mission is staying there forever.

There is so much hidden stuff even very early on in the game. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}for example one of the houses in Sanctuary has a root cellar with some nice bits and bobs for early game that I must have literally walked past 50 times or so and never noticed.
And that cave behind Red Rocket as well...Damn I gotta explore places better.

Rare footage of me trying to find an ending that doesn't stomp on my heart and kick it against the wall ![](http://puu.sh/jG5pY.gif) I was actually very content with the {Spoiler} Institute ending. So much so that I really don't even want to explore the other endings because of what {Spoiler} The Institute turns out to be. I'm to loyal to it after the reveal.

I'm sticking with the Minutemen, though it almost seems that the Wanderer could be his own faction at this point. He's freeing/building the settlements, has companions from EVERY race, and is the guy ever faction relies on to get shit done. I feel the institute is continuing to oppress the synths, the Railroad has no damn clue what they're actually doing, and the Brotherhood is just Raiders with better tech. f*** em all I say

I am disappointed that we didn't get a New Vegas type "f*** all of you" ending. Killing House and then curb stomping the Ceasars Legion and NRC was always satisfying

In the continuing tale of SsnakeBite's heroic deeds, I single-handedly murdered every single person in the town of Covenant and then took it over. ![](http://i.imgur.com/Ur22ydU.jpg) ... Okay, I realize how it sounds but hear me out: it was self defence. ... It was, though! You see, this guy in town theorized that something was wrong, so I investigated and he was right! Turns out they were kidnapping people to send them to a lab for some weird experiment thing (I'm staying intentionally vague to avoid spoilers as much as possible) and when I confronted the mayor, he told me "fine, maybe, you can try and negotiate with them to release the prisoner" but when I got my ass to the lab, I barely got to say a few words before they tried ventilating my body with a few extra holes. After I saved the prisoner and left, I hoped to go back to Covenant and ask "we're still cool, right?". But THEY didn't even give me the luxury of saying a few words, they just straight-up started shooting me. And seriously, Covenant is probably the best place to use as a secondary settlement. It's fairly close to various important locations, it already has walls, buildings, crops, stores* beds and even freaking turrets when you get it and it still give you a fair amount of room to build new structures. As soon as I can, I intended to build a power armour station there so I don't have to keep them all in the same location. In other news, as I alluded to earlier, I built a wall around the Red Rocket station to protect it from Raiders. I placed a small entrance guarded by two guards assisted by two turrets. ![](http://i.imgur.com/mdSMXzg.jpg) I also made it to Bunker Hill, which is my favourite town so far as not only is it a potential settlement and have lots of good stuff several NPCs can send you on side quests, including a very interesting one for some eccentric scientist who also seems to be somewhat of a Walt Disney/Howard Hughes type (interestingly, his house is pristine and has a lot of items labelled "preserved" or "unscorched"). It's also got some intriguing NPCs such as the first non-feral Ghoul I've met (outside of one of my settlers) and Cricket, who I hope I am not the only one to find awesome. What could possibly go wrong with a gun-obsessed person who is clearly insane and/or on drugs? ![](http://i.imgur.com/Yl4P8wt.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/Iiu7xnv.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/07VNaj8.jpg) I also reached the USS Constitution. I'm kind of disappointed that it's not a town but it is pretty awesome in its own way. I'm keeping my lips zipped for why so go find out yourself if you haven't yet. * Assuming you don't go the SsnakeBite way and murder everyone.

so horrible end-of-game breaking bug alert for those doing the Railroad ending: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I'm doing a Railroad playthrough and during the Underground Undercover quest I'm supposed to warn Desdemona about a BoS attack, but the game is glitched and she won't respond when I try to talk to her. f*** YOU BETHESDA this isn't a small bug, it's actually stopping me from completing the game. why the hell wasn't this patched? I've looked for workarounds but I can't figure this out, and the only ones I know of involve sequence breaking that makes you fail a shit-ton of quests. SMH, and I had no issues with bugs before this. HOW DO YOU MISS THIS? I mean this isn't some out-of-the-way sidequest, it's a main story quest. so basically I'm stuck not being able to finish the game until this gets patched whenever. SMH.

Random observation but I don't remember anyone bringing it up yet; I figured out that, unlike what I originally assumed, you CAN clean up the radiation at the Starlight Drive-in (don't know if there are other settlements with radioactive waste so if there are I assume it works there too) by simply entering crafting mode and scraping the barrels of radioactive waste. If it doesn't work right away, try going in and out of crafting mode.
Still don't think there's any way to remove skeletons, which is a bit crap (especially since bones ARE a crafting material so there is really no reason they shouldn't be scrappable). Hopefully a mod comes up and fixes that.

Oh my God my latest session was such a pain in the ass. I went on a simple fetch quest but on the way, as always, I decided to explore whatever locations I find. This leads to me finding a small town that was overrun by bloody Super Mutants (who killed the Raiders who previously overran the place). So at first its not too hard because I have good equipment so I can deal with Super Mutants relatively easily as long as I have some cover. But then, not only did one of them turn out to be a legendary (and to ad insult to injury, he didn't even drop any special gear that you usually find on every legendary enemy), I then came across one of them named Hammer and hoooooooooooooly shit what a goddamn nuisance he was. My bullets barely grazed him, he packed a motherf'n missile launcher AND he also had a super sledgehammer. And he was fast too. It must have taken me at least 15 attempts before I managed to ice him, thanks to a mixture of dropping mines ahead of time, opening the fight with a sniper rifle for the sneak attack damage bonus, spraying him non-stop with my most powerful gun and some very, very lucky criticals. And even then I still only barely survived by the skin of my teeth and had to use a bunch of health items to recover. But that's not all! I Then continued towards the place where I actually needed to go for my quest and it was fairly easy. Just some radroaches, bloatflies and bloodbugs. Can be dangerous but with some good shots and a couple health items, no biggie. But then I leave the place and BAM! Two Mirelurk Hunters crawl out of the ground and attack and these guys were arguably even worse than Hammer because not only do they absorb damage like they barely feel it and can deal a pretty big amount of punishment, they can also poison you and therefore make you lose HP rapidly even if you use health items. I had to use a similar tactic to eventually win (if you come across Mirelurk hunters yourself; first, prepare to rage and second, you better be packing some frag grenades as that seems to be the most efficient weapon against them). But THEN, I went to anther location that I was informed about thanks to a computer in the town with the Super Mutants. And guess what's inside? MORE BLOODY MIRELURKS. At first it was only hatchlings, which are piss-easy to dispatch, but OF COURSE there was also a hunter. At this point I went "nope, that's enough for today" so there might be even more for all I know. On the plus side, I did get a level and a new suit of power armour out of this mess. Also, something really bizarre happened. In the town, I found two pieces of armour apparently made for Super Mutants specifically (I'm guessing you can find a mutant companion at some point?). One of them was a Super Mutant Cage Helmet that I couldn't wear, but then I found a badass-looking thing called "Super Mutant Chains". And that one I can wear and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it' one of those attires that doesn't replace any piece of armour so you can wear your armour on top of it: ![](http://i.imgur.com/NnpxZyj.jpg) At least technically I can, because look what happens when I wear it and go in third person mode: ![](http://i.imgur.com/lJZ8MXW.jpg) Yup, it doesn't appear. At first I thought I accidentally double-clicked and unequipped it but nope, it just doesn't show up on my character. My theory is that you're not supposed to be able to equip it but a glitch made it possible. It also looks like it makes the power armour exoskeleton disappear: ![](http://i.imgur.com/VnKGqmz.jpg) So that's weird. And now, two mannequins taking a ride on the Rocket 69: ![](http://i.imgur.com/xHA4yMP.jpg)

So I finally finished the game last night, went the Railroad path. {Spoiler}It was... OK. I was disappointed in the lack of a really menacing final boss like 3 and New Vegas (and 1 and 2) had. I guess you could say the Brotherhood of Steel leader counts, as do a few named synths, but perhaps as a side effect of the levelling system and the power armor, it wasn't really hard. And the fact that the Institute didn't have this big bad didn't help matters.
As for the ending itself, i liked the visuals and the monologue, but since the game continues after the missions, it also misses the descriptions of what happened to people after you left, which really is what made it feel like your changes mattered.
