A tournament that will be remembered more for how poor the USA were and some bright moments from Team North America than the eventual winners who were pretty much a formality. Roll on the NHL regular season.

Roll on the NHL regular season. I'll remember it as the tournament that didn't give us the one match-up everybody wanted to see. What a total shitshow of an off-season for the Blues. We lose Brouwer and Backes (Backes to the friggin worst team), Elliott gets traded for peanuts, we bring back Perron of all people, we get played again by Vladdy Sobotka, and now Schwartz is out for a month. Just play the damn games already! We can't take any more hits.

And good riddance to the World Cup of Hockey. Don't come back soon! Some of the hockey was really good, but it's just tough to make people care about a fake tournament. Also, hold it in multiple cities next time, rather than having teams play in an empty ACC at 3pm on a weekday. The Russian Hockey Federation is interested in hosting the next tournament. I think making it international like that might add some prestige. But I'm with you: I'm not gonna miss it if I were to never see it again.

Flyers getting into goon-mode early this season, as Radko Gudas boards Jimmy Vesey during their preseason game tonight:
Hes already gotten a game misconduct. Will likely get a call from player safety too.

That's kinda on Vesey for putting himself in a pretty bad position when Gudas was already bearing down on him.

Connor McDavid is the Captain of the Oilers with Lucic, Eberle, and Nugent Hopkins as the alternates. McDavid is now the youngest captain in NHL history beating Landeskog by two days and Toews record for least amount of games played before naming captain.

Loved seeing Jackman retire as a Blue. Class act of a player and how the team handle his retirement. Pumped as one week today will be the home opener.

Barret was one hell of a Blue, and people forget how long he was here. It was forever. It's a shame that him and his close friend Osh aren't Blues anymore. For as big a deal as this town made for Matt Holliday, they should have made a bigger one for a guy who was with the Blues twice as long as Holliday was with the Cards. If nothing else near the end, Jackman was always THE first guy to take up for teammates. Over Backes, Ott, even Reaves, despite the fact he wasn't a very good fighter anymore. The refs also thankfully let him get away with a lot.

He was on the fastlane the day he did his retirement and talked about how the current team and all the former teammates that played with him where at the conference and he didn't expect that which was a could thing. I think the reason we didn't is because the Cardinals made the move on Matt while the season was in effect. Jackman didn't have that chance or the same situation where he could say goodbye and the fans could as well the way Matt did. That is a rare situation in sports. I would love to seen that for him however.
