Why on earth, down 38-0 to Carolina, did Atlanta go for it instead of kicking a FG? They're not gonna cover the spread, so what, they have the Panthers D on their fantasy team? eh, down that many points you may as well try to go for broke.

Can someone catch me up to speed on the Colts game? The second half had just started when my satellite feed blew. I've spent the last however long on the phone trying to get it back up to no avail, and giving up on that I check online and they are getting blown out and Charlie Whitehurst is out there throwing a bunch of incomplete passes.

For anyone that missed how the Jets scored their last TD, here it is: Damn fine effort on Casey's part, however. A DL almost catches up with a WR that had a head start? That guy must really hurt when he hits someone at full speed.

Either move is really just designed to send a message. A FG tells the owners and fans that they've given up and just don't want to be shut out. Going for it sends the message that they're going to keep trying, which is more important for a team that is still technically, if not realistically, in the playoff hunt.

Chiefs and Jets win. And with the Steelers having their game at hand at this point, the 3 will remained tied at 8-5 as they fight for the wild card spots.

Is Whitehurst playing because Hasselbeck is shitting the bed or hurt? The comment section on the game coverage on NFL.com suggests that the Jags have gotten in a number of late hits on Hasselbeck, but it is a comment section and it is entirely possible that it just sour grapes. I noticed Jalil Brown got the start and Davis got hurt, so I could simply see the two Allen's burning the backups something fierce and Hasselbeck getting yanked to protect him in a second straight blowout loss.

Even if you're optimistic about Dalton's thumb you have to assume he's out until the first round of the playoffs. Assuming that's true, McCarron is going to have to beat either the Niners, Broncos, or Ravens to make sure Cincinnati actually gets in. They aren't mathematically guaranteed a spot yet. The Ravens at home should be a gimme, even with a backup starting. Better hope so anyway.
